Jack LeRoy LaPine, 75, departed this life July 27, 2008. He was born February 18, 1933 in Paw Paw, to Roy and Viola (Thorpe) LaPine. He always considered Paw Paw his home but also lived in Phoenix, AZ, Oshtemo and Springhill, FL and most recently Kalamazoo. Jack graduated from Paw Paw High School and immediately joined his father in the family business, LaPine Sheetmetal. Later, his brother Lyle joined the business and they incorporated under the name R.W. LaPine. In 1978, Jack left the company to pursue other entrepreneurial ventures including many real estate projects. Jack was a member of the Elks and the Knights of Columbus. Throughout his life he enjoyed many sports including golf and basketball. He liked going out west hunting, to northern Michigan snowmobiling, and playing cards with his good friends. He will truly be missed by his wife of 57 years, Marie (Agate) LaPine; his three sons, Michael (Lorie) of Paw Paw, Gary (Jan) of Mattawan and Steven (Lisa) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Michael, Alexis, Annalyse, Cailey, Lee Joshua, Brittney and Conner; brother, Lyle (Peggy) LaPine of Kalamazoo; sister, Sandra Oakleaf of Paw Paw; George and Marty Agate of Kalamazoo and Gloria Agate of Kalamazoo. As Jack wished, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw. For those desiring, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Bethany Christian Services. Arrangements by Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
