Michael J. Peters, Sr., age 63, died July 18, 2008 at his home. He was born April 18, 1945, in Kalamazoo, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Ullrich) Peters. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10:30 AM at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mattawan. Following the burial, food and fellowship will be shared in the parish hall. Mike co-owned VanKal Truck Equipment in Mattawan with his late brother Rob. He later owned and operated Peters Pole Buildings and Supplies for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Peters; his parents, Donald and Dorothy Peters; and by 3 siblings: Rob Peters, Patricia Gallagher and Thomas Peters. Surviving are his wife Donna Peters of 44 years; 4 children: Michael, II. (Karen) Peters of Kalamazoo; Melissa (Glen) Russell of Plainwell; Matt (Amy) Peters of Schoolcraft; Mitch (Cathy) Peters of Sacramento, CA; 8 grandchildren: Mallory, Michael III, Mackenzie, Sarah, M.J., Skylar, Jason and Caitlyn; a sister, Jackie (Dan) Knue of Spring Lake and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
