I was really surprised how many Uria/Uriah Fosters and Hiram Fosters there were from that period (circa 1780-1850). Some served in the military or militias in the Indian Wars, both in Michigan/Indiana Territories and Florida Seminole Wars, as well.

As you know, many of our ancestors during this time in history, were true patriots, and served in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Indian Wars, Civil War, etc. Many of mine are from the Hartshorn/Bisbee/Peasley/Sanborn/Foster/Wilson/Crandall/Cooke line. Because of their roots in New England, I have eleven (11) direct blood ancestors that were on the Mayflower. Many more from the Plymouth Colony. You probably do too, through your Foster line. Do you have any of these other surnames in your ancestry?
