Reply to cbauer46 ~ The surname Verplank in your old (2007) post caught my eye. The Christian H. Verplank (1922-2012) in your tree (who married Shirley Burroughs) was actually Christian III ~ the third in a direct line with that given name. Christian III's parents were Christian Verplank, Jr. (1894-1969) & Theodora (Dorothy) A. Biesenthal (1889-1974). You'll find several Ancestry trees containing that couple. ~ Junior's parents were Christian *Verplanke, Sr. (B:1855-D:1922 Macomb Co., Mich.) & Dingetje (Dena) Buijze (B:1856-D: after 1919, Macomb Co., Mich.). They married 1877 in the Netherlands (where both born), immigrated to the U.S. circa 1881/1882, settled in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., Mich., and had 15 children; 8 of whom were still alive as of 1900. Later, between 1900-1910, the family moved to Detroit, Mich. *Note: Dutch spelling of surname had an 'e' at the end. Dena's my great-great aunt. ~Susan
