Robert ‘Nick' Nellis

Passed away Friday, July 3, 2009, in Traverse City. Robert resided in Owosso most of his life but recently moved to Ludington where his son lives and also spent time in Traverse City where is daughter lives.

Robert was born on July 14, 1934, the son of Frank and Hilda Nellis. He graduated from Owosso High School in 1952.

Robert was in the Army 1957-59 and was stationed in Germany. He worked at Buick Motor Division in Flint for 40 years as a skilled trade electrician. Robert married Sandra Martin Nov. 10, 1962, in St. Johns. The most important things in Robert's life were his family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra; one son attorney Jeffrey (Debbie) Nellis of Ludington; one daughter Dr. Leslie (Dr. Roche) Featherstone of Traverse City; five grandchildren, Sam and Allie Nellis and Taylor, Nick and Zack Featherstone; sisters-in-law Barb and Paul Lanczynski of Chesaning and Janice and Robert Ayers of Grand Ledge. Robert was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel and visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight and from 2-8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Burial will take place in Pine Tree Cemetery, Corunna.
