Margaret Botsfield Brodie Nagel Cowling was born 6 November 1855 in Canada to James and Lucinda Freise Botsfield. Her occupation was a wash woman. She owned and operated the Commercial Hotel on Front Street in Monroe, Michigan from 1915-1919, on 28 December 1919 she sold the hotel to the Monroe State Savings Bank and they renamed it the Royal Hotel. After divorcing Charles she married Martin Nagel who died on 15 January 1917. She then married Able Cowling who does after 1920. She herself died 28 May 1920 in Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan.
