Julian,
Thanks for the response. Would like very much to see the info you have. I do have a few questions about your info. According to the 1900 U.S. census Michael and Kate were living in my gGrandfather Andrew Strzelecki's house on
Miner st. in Alpena. That census indicates that at the time they were married 32 yrs which would put their marraige year at 1868 rather than 1855. Your info indicates that
Kates maiden name was sukolska. My gGrandfather
Andrews death cetificate lists his mothers maiden name as Sukola which could very well be an anglicized spelling of the name. According to my info that would indicate that they were both quite old for a first marraige at the time (him 41 and she 28) which leads me to wonder if they had both lost a spouse in Poland. If your info is correct that would be more of a normal marraige age although she would only have been 15 at the time(not impossible for the time). My query mentioned Joseph Leski the Alpena police officer. I was told that he was my gGrandfathers older brother. He couldn't have been the product of an 1868 marraige but could have been the product of an 1855 marraige. This led me to wonder if he could have been a half brother to my gGrandfather if the 1868 date is correct. Both my ggrandfather and grandfather later used the name Leski as well. Would really appreciate any insight you could offer on this. Also would like to know if you know Michael and/or
Kates date of death and if they passed away in Alpena.
Thanks again
Mike
