My husband's great uncle, born in 1906 died, I believe in Presque Isle county in 1921. The death record just lists his death 22 May 1921 and indicates he was 14 years, 11 months and 28 days old. This is a little off of the birth date we have for him of 14 May 1906. There are no parents listed and his occupation is school boy. He accidently drowned in Moltke. I think this is our Teddy Hatfield but I am trying to figure out why he would have been in Presque Isle county. In the 1920 census he is at the Coldwater State Home which, although a place for mental patients, also took in orphaned children. The rumor in the family is that Teddy drowned up north which would fit because his family was living in Jackson, Hillsdale, and Calhoun counties at the time. He was the youngest child and had four brothers and a sister living at the time but none of them took him in, which leads me to believe he might have been challenged mentally.
