Kris - I've been tied up with making maple syrup for the past month, but I did find some things: 20 paychecks for Andrew Johnson dated Aug 1911 to Jul 1916, as well as some for John Johnson dtd Nov 1911 to Aug 1917, and Erick Johnson dtd Sep 1914 to Jun 1916. Only found one for a Frank Johnson dtd Oct 1917. Also there are some accident reports in their names; have only a listing, the actual reports are at Michigan Tech Archives, but had a note on one for a John Johnson that he had lost a leg.
Also have a story from a Swedish woman that seems to link to your family's story. Her greatgrandfather, Hans Olson, worked at Victoria, coming from Darlarna area with several other men in 1904, recruited by an Andrew Englund (Swedish name Perers Anders Hansson). It appears that those Swedish men boarded for a time with Englund and his wife who operated the 'Swedish boarding house' at the Victoria Mine.
The interrelationships of the people that lived at Victoria is very interesting. Will let you know what else I find.
