Marriage date: July 3, 1922 in Rose City, Ogemaw CO, officiated by H B Foote, Justice of the Peace. Witnessed by Mr & Mrs Hall.

Groom: Henry Arntz 23yrs, b: Ogemaw Co, Res: Ogemaw Co, Laborer, Father: Bert Arntz Mother: Elizabeth Graber

Bride: Rosia Hall 17yrs b: Ogemaw Co, Res: Ogemaw Co, Occ: Housework, Father: George Hall Mother: Minnie Kraphol

I no longer have access to the 1930 census with Ancestry.com but the only Henry Arntz w/ wife Rose (Rosia) does appear in Ingham Co, which ages and such match your family members... If it helps there is also a Henry Arntz in the ssdi that died in Clinton CO which is a neighboring county to Ingham this also could be yours ---- BEST OF LUCK TO YOU, Doris

Grace: by the way, does Hattie's marriage document to John Anderson mention her original maiden name. I don't have it. She was apparently married to Joseph Churchill around 1867, but I haven't seen anything on that marriage and don't therefore know her maiden name.

Sorry, cannot find a darn thing on Joseph. I do not find a death record for him in Ogemaw, nor a burial place. There are unrecorded deaths here so he may be one of them, or perhaps died elsewhere. I did find births of Clarence (1/2/1887) and Eddie (8/7/1882) here in Ogemaw--parents listed as Joseph and Hattie. One other, Roy was born 10/29/1891 but parents listed as Joseph and Mattie. Hattie remarried here in Ogemaw 5/19/1907 to John Anderson.

Many thanks for both of these replies to my message. I was not aware of Seeking Michigan, which looks like a superb site. The Joseph Churchill who died in Feb, 1900, may be my Joseph, but it is odd that he would have been described as a widower. True,he was earlier in life, but he had a second spouse alive at the time of his death, if this is him. The information on his parentage is also interesting. My Joseph was indeed the son of James (I think), but the mother's name is different. The mystery continues. Thanks to both of you.

Ogemaw County Herald, October 18, 1923, page 1:
Emma Elizabeth Griffin Redfield, who died Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, was born in London, Canada March 26, 1859. She was united in marriage to Geo. Redfield of St. Clair Sept. 18, 1882. They made their home in St. Clair until sixteen years ago when they moved to their present home in Prescott. She was the mother of seven children, Bennie, who died in infancy, George, dying at the age of 17, Eva dying at the age of 25 and her four surviving children, Will of St. Clair, Mrs. Myrtle Roe, Mrs. Bessie David, of Prescott, and Norman at home. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and much respected by those who knew her. During the past year she has suffered much but bore it all very patiently and was prepared and ready when her Savior called her home. Beside her husband and children who are left to mourn her loss, she leaves nine grandchildren, two half sisters, three half brothers and a host of friends.

Ogemaw County Herald, September 30, 1943, page 1:
George Redfield, Prescott Pioneer, Buried Sept. 23
Funeral services for George Redfield, 87, of RFD No. 2, Prescott, and a well known resident of Ogemaw county for the past 35 years, were held last Thursday afternoon, September 23, at 2:00 p.m. from the Little Funeral Home in Prescott, with Rev. W. H Good, pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Logan township, officiating. Burial took place in the Richland cemetery. Born in St. Clair county in 1856, George Redfield came to Ogemaw in 1907 to engage in farming. Until his health began to fail about three months ago he led an extremely active life and was widely known. He passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21; after a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dewey David. He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Norman Redfield, of Prescott; William Redfield, of St. Clair; Mrs. Bessie David, of Prescott, and Mrs. Myrtle Roe, of Alberta; twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Ogemaw County Herald, December 26, 1968, page 8:
Norman Redfield, retired youth center operator, died suddenly while ice fishing on Lake Ogemaw Wednesday. The funeral was 1:00 Saturday at Forshee Funeral Home with Rev. John Newman, pastor of Skidway Community Church, officiating. Burial was in Richland Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Eva; one son, Gordon, of Tawas; three daughters, Mrs. Erma Middleton of Coleman, Mrs. Norma Conners of Capac and Mrs. Donna Weishuhn of Flint, and several grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Bessie David of Logan and Mrs. Myrtle Roe of Canada.
My great-great frandfather was David VAnBuren Sharpe, born 1854 in Northumberland, Ont. Canada. He married Mary Elizabeth Milligan and they had four children, Ethel Maude, Anna L. (My Grandmother), Agnes and Kenneth. They lived in West Branch. Maude was married to Justin Franklin (Frank) Ormerod. Anna was married to William J. Smith. Agnes was unmarried and Kenneth married Marion Robinson. I am not sure if there is a connection to your family or not as I do not know who g-grandpa David's siblings were.

I am searching for information on my GG Grandfather Abbe Reed. He died in 1909 at the Prescott Saw mill, due to a pracitcal joke some one played on him. They turned on a circular saw he was working on and it cut off his leg. He bled to death before he could get medical attention. He was married to Clara Amelia Cunningham. They had 4 children Ralph, Hazel, Pearl, and Ruby. Thanks
Roianne

I believe that Elizabeth Sharpe Nesbitt is the daughter of Stephen and Mary Ann Sharpe as the 1880 census shows her to be living in Arcadia, Lapeer, Michigan and to be 16 years of age making her year of birth to be in 1864. Other siblings are David, my great grandfather, James, Carrie, Nettie, Cassie, and Wilbert.

There was no date or resource name for Margaret's obit; Henry's was found in the Ogemaw County Herald, March 14, 1935, page 1, column 4
MARGARET RAU PASSES THIS LIFE
The community mourns the death of Mrs. Margaret Rau, which occurred Thursday morning at 5 o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Arthur Ratjen in Detroit, following an extended illness. While Mrs. Rau had been in an enfeebled state for some time, due to a complication of ailments, her sudden death came as a shock not only to her family, but to the community at large. She had been in her usual state of health and able to attend to the duties of her home until November when she went to Detroit to consult specialists. Due to her weakened condition she was unable to respond to the treatments prescribed and failed rapidly. Mrs. Rau had been practically a life-long resident of West Branch and vicinity, having moved here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hennen from Perrysburg, Ohio, at the age of two years. She was graduated from the local high school at an early age and later taught in the schools of the county for a period of five years. On May 18, 1901, she was united in marriage to Henry Rau, also of West Branch. Mrs. Rau was active in her church over a long period of years. Fraternally she was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Lady Maccabees, in which orders she held several important offices. The surviving children are: Miss Doris Rau, at home, Mrs. Russel Thomas, of West Branch, Mrs. Fred Hammer, of Detroit and four brothers—Peter Hennen of Evanston, Ill.; Chas, Herbert and Clyde, of West Branch. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, January 4, from St. Joseph church with the pastor, Rev. U. A. Miller officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in St. Joseph cemetery. Let us hope in saying farewell that the sweet rest mentioned in Rossettis beautiful sonnet of the same title refers to the eternal pilgrimage of this dear mother: Darkness more clear than noonday holdeth her; Silence more musical than any song; Even her very heart has ceased to stir; Until the morning of Eternity. Her rest shall not begin nor end, but be; And when she wakes she will not think it long.

PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
Henry Rau was born in Canada, September 24, 1876. He stayed on the farm until he was twenty-three years of age and then went to Rose City where he worked tending bar. While at Rose City in 1902 he was married to Margaret Hennen. He later came to West Branch and went in business for himself, running a hotel. He died Thursday, March 7th, at the age of 59. Funeral services were held from the St. Joseph church, Saturday morning, March 10, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. U. A. Miller officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fred Hammer, Pittman, Ohio; Mrs. Russell Thomas and Doris Rau and one son Stanley Rau, also three brothers Peter Rau, Flint, Mike Rau and Charles Rau of West Branch and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Artman, Mrs. Jake Hansen and Mrs. Arfield Charron, of Flint.
We have not located an obit but I did find her father George Hollingshead and Mother Ann Harper on her marriage license. She married James Moss. She was b. 3-27-1850 and died 4-9-1935. She is buried in the Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton MI. We will continue to search for an obit. Janet

Edward was 73 yr. old and living with a brother-in-law in 1930 and Ina was 62 yrs. old they may be buried in one of the Gladwin Cem. Their records may be in that county. David Absolom Reed died 15 Jan 1909 in Clayton Twp., Arenac Co., with cause of death listed as "hemorrhage from (illegible--femoral something, maybe?) severed by contact with a circular saw."

The file is here: http://seekingmichigan.org/u?/p129401coll7,320269

Abbe's sister Melisa Reed Williams was my G-G-G-grandmother, and I remembered the rather unusual cause of death.
