Looking for information on Joseph Churchill, born around 1821, Ireland, located in the US census of 1880 in Klacking, Ogemaw, with family. Spouse Harriet next appears on the census of 1900 as a widow. Does anyone have information on Joseph and his family. thanks.

There is a Joseph Churchill death in Feb of 1900 in Alcona County, his age 76yrs with birth being in Ireland. Sorry, cannot find a darn thing on Joseph. I do not find a death record for him in Ogemaw, nor a burial place. There are unrecorded deaths here so he may be one of them, or perhaps died elsewhere. I did find births of Clarence (1/2/1887) and Eddie (8/7/1882) here in Ogemaw--parents listed as Joseph and Hattie. One other, Roy was born 10/29/1891 but parents listed as Joseph and Mattie. Hattie remarried here in Ogemaw 5/19/1907 to John Anderson

Many thanks for both of these replies to my message. I was not aware of Seeking Michigan, which looks like a superb site. The Joseph Churchill who died in Feb, 1900, may be my Joseph, but it is odd that he would have been described as a widower. True,he was earlier in life, but he had a second spouse alive at the time of his death, if this is him. The information on his parentage is also interesting. My Joseph was indeed the son of James (I think), but the mother's name is different. The mystery continues. Thanks to both of you.

Grace: by the way, does Hattie's marriage document to John Anderson mention her original maiden name. I don't have it. She was apparently married to Joseph Churchill around 1867, but I haven't seen anything on that marriage and don't therefore know her maiden name.

Grace:
Fortunately, I just found the name in different quarters. It's like most genealogy. Keep digging and digging...and something eventually turns up. Thanks again.
