1928 LILLIE EAGLE IN HILLMAN THEN?

I am trying to locate the 2 witnesses to a marriage between Gerald Lee Herron and Mary Elderatta Daly March 24, 1928 in Hillman. I have located Thelma Haverstick there in the 1930 census, but she is only 16 years old then, so would have been a 14 year old witness. I did find a Lillie Eagle in Hillman in the 1930 census, so must assume that she's the other witness, and she's married and about the same age as Mary Daly.

Can anyone find other information on these people?

White, Melvin Stevenson, Rev. J.M. Warren, Thomas Johnson (or Johnston), O.S. Kneeland, C.B. Drake, T.H. Deyarmond, George Sheldon, C.F. Gibbs, E.A. Morris, Charles B. Johnson, Archie C. Remington, Martin Nelson, Edward Cameron, Adolph Werner, Robert Kincaid, James Francis, W.T. Warren, J.H. Briley, and Charles A Cain.

After the biographies, the paper gives a short history of every township in the county, and gives photographs and names of everyone that works for the paper. The back page has advertisements, including companies run by the men that are in the biographies.

email me for transcripts, or for a scanned copy.

Had at least one child, Joseph Rupinski, born about 1894 in Alpena or Hillman, Michigan. I do not know if Veronika & Jozef came together to the United States or if she was born here. Any leads, info or ideas greatly appreciated! You can either respond here, or e-mail me directly. THANKS!

Hi...I am looking for an obit for Eli Smith. He was born 11/1839 in Ohio (Williams Co.). He was first married to Amelia McCarthy. She died in 1871. Then he married Mary E Double. I know that they were still in Vienna Twp., Montmorency Co., MI in 1900. I do not have a death date for either Eli or for Mary.

I know this is limited information but I would appreciate any help you can give me on this family.

Thanks for your assistance...Mary Jo

Hi all,

I am looking for my maternal Great-Grandfather, John Breault/Broe. Born in 1838 in Canada (French_Canadian. in the 1900 census I find him and wife (Mary Lafond) living in Bay County, Michigan with several children. In 1910 I find that Mary stated she is divorced and living with the children, and still in Bay County. I find that in 1910, John is in what looks to be a lumber camp, at 72 years old. He is listed as still married. I am looking for a possible death record or possibly an interrnment record. Hoping that someone can help with this.

Kind Regards.

Carol
carspeedie@comcast.net

HERRON FARM IMPLEMENT CO IN HILLMAN?

Does anyone remember the Herron Farm Implement Company in Hillman, back in the late 30's or early 40's? It was in a building in the block that burned down early 1940's. My father and his brother and father went into business in about 1934, and Harvey Herron, my uncle, ran the store in Hillman. He died in 1945. I don't recall ever going there. I was born in 1940, so maybe they never got to take me there. If anyone has a picture, or memento of the store, I'd appreciate a contact! My dad ran the Alpena and Rogers City stores until they all closed.

I am a descendant of Bert Edward Favel, who married and divorced by great-greandmother, Ruth Barr, in the early 1900s. They had a child named Lela (my grandmother). He remarried and had other children. The family moved a lot. The 1930 census lists him and his family living in Montmorency County. Anybody know what happened to him or his family after that? I would appreciate any help you can give me.

I'm looking for the burial place of my Grandmother who died shortly after the birth of my father in 1908. So maybe it would be 1909. Her name is Maud M. Coppins married Grant Nickerson in 1904. My father was born in Atlanta Michigan so I am assuming that she died in the area also.. If anyone has any information on her burial site or any info please contact me.. I have searched the cemeteries that are online with no luck. I dont know if she may have been buried in a church cemetery or not. I am also interested in finding birth info on her. thanks. vicki

The Bible in my possesion appears to have belonged to Joseph's sister Nancy, Mrs. Jacob YANNEY of the Benton Harbour, Berrien, MI area.
I have a good bit of information, and am willing to share.

There is a tombstone that reads Mary CUNNINGHAM d. 1941...with other family burials...in Briley Twp Cemetery. Her death is not recorded in Montmorency co. Would like to know where she & Burt lived later. ...where she died. Does anybody have a photograph of her. She was the daughter of Henry WATERHOUSE & Mary BIRCH. Would also like to know what became of her brother, Willard WATERHOUSE...who married Katherine EDWARDS 1 May 1902 at Atlanta. In 1910 Bert's brother Melvin lived with them. There were at least 4 PROPER brothers: Bert J, James H, Arthur & Melvin.

Hello everyone! I own a web site that has some information that may be of value to your genealogy research. It first began as a cemetery transcription site, but since I cannot do that in the middle of winter, I wanted to add even more data because even I have family in this area. Currently I have started on extracting all names from the 1930 census for this area. So feel free to visit the site often as it is a work in progress. Take care and happy hunting!

Michigan Cemetery Transcriptions
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~micemtranscriptions...
Hello,
I am desperately searching for information on my great great uncle. His name was William L. Churchill. He was sent to prison in October of 1890 for second degree murder. The story in our family goes that he was let out because another man confessed to the murder. However when I found his prison record it gives no information other than his sentence which was 15 years and that he was let out in 1901 for Good Time Served. It gives the name of the county as Montmorency County which is where he has been shown to be a resident in 1889. If someone could do a newspaper search for me I would be grateful and willing to compensate them for their time. Also if any of you are his descendants please email me direct. I have other information on our family. Thanks and I hope to hear from one of you soon.
Cindy

HOWARD NORTHRUP

My father had two half-sisters who were either born, or who lived in Hillman, Montmorency County. One of the girls' names was Ann, and she married HOWARD NORTHRUP. I think she was still living there in the early 1950's. The other girl married a man named MATHER, and moved to Chicago. I think Howard and Ann were divorced. Specifically, I am looking for the girls' mother, who is my grandmother. Her name was AGNES HARE, and she was born in 1899 either in Michigan or Wisconsin. She moved to Hillman with her new husband. My father was born in 1913 (subsequently adopted) so I guess the girls were born between 1915 and 1920. If anyone has any information on any of these people I would appreciate if you could share that with me. Thanks.

Ken Bhirdo
Houston, Texas

Seeking any information on Jennie A Turrel, b 1864 to John Lyman Turrel and Abbie Schuyler. John and Abbie divorced about 1885 and Abbie returned to Northville, MI to live with her brother, Dr. Randall Schuyler. No further word on Jennie. Speculation is that abt 1985 she married to an unknown person. Could it have been a Mr. Glazier? A Mrs. Glazier was buried in the Schuyler plot in Ann Arbor, MI in 1918 that could have been Jennie. If it were she, she would have been 54 at this time. (Earlier posting incorrectly suggested marriage to a Dr. Childs.)
