Am seeking info on Henry K. Evans/Evens. Henry was born 9-1-1849. A newspaper clipping states that he was the first white child born in the Menominee/Marinette area. Henry died 9-26-1929 in Marinette WI. His parents were Ely B. Evans and Debora (Cook) Evans. Both from New York State.
Henry married Sarah Mae Bailey. They had 7 children. A family story states that Sarah was a survivor of the Pestigo Fire of 1871. Her mother and sibling were distroyed in that fire. Also seeking Sarah's birth name. It is believed that she was "adopted" by Martha M (Muzzey) and Rollins W. Bailey.
