Looking for information on my relations who emigrated to Negaunee, Marquette County, in the 1880s, from England. They came to work in the iron ore mines, originally from Cornwall.
Their names were Richard & Emma Searle, daughter Elizabeth Ellen (bn. 1861, Cornwall) and her husband, John Bowden, (bn. c. 1860, Cornwall). John & Ellen had 6 children; Jessie (bn.1880), Emma (1882), George (1885), John (1888), Ethel (1893) & William (1896). Ethel and William were born in Negaunee.
Would particularly like details of an interview with John Bowden which took place in the 1920s. The record is located in the J.M. Longyear Research Library at the Marquette County History Museum. Also, any other information on the family which can be found here, or would like to hear from anyone connected to this family.

Hi,
My family came to Marquette in 1863 and were interviewed by college students and the interviews are kept in the Longyear Research Library and for a small fee you can get copies of them. Everyone was so helpful there and the information I received from the interviews was amazing. Well worth getting a copy of if possible. I don't live in Marquette so I do my research long distance.

Thanks for your your help. Have received a copy from the Longyear Research Library of the interview with my relation (John Bowden), also, obituaries of family members, photographs of the Negaunee area, etc. - they have been really helpful. You have to pay a fee for this service but it's well worth it as I would have a long way to travel to visit the library.
Would be interested to hear from anyone with connections to the following families in Marquette County: Allen, Bath, Bowden, Curnow, Searle, Toms
