I have been continuing to research this family in Manistee, MI to determine if they are related to me. I just found that the great grandson of this Nels Olson was Bob Munson who was born 7 April 1932 and died 11 Jan 2003 in Manistee. His line from Nels Olson appears to be the only one that stayed in the Manistee area. I'm inclined to think that if anyone has information on Nels Olson (i.e. pictures), it might be a descendant of Bob Munson in Manistee.

Descendants of Nels [Niels] Olson [Tokerud]- assuming this is the correct Nels Olson!!!

Generation No. 1

1. NELS [NIELS] OLSON [TOKERUD] was born 25 Feb 1840 in Hallingdalen, Søndre Land, Oppland, Norway, and died 07 Apr 1914 in Newland, Michigan. He left Norway with his older brother in April, 1861. His parents were Ole Olsen Tokerud and Kari Nielsdatter. Tokerud is a farm in northern Hadeland. I have been there. Nels married EMMA FRANCES BUGG CUBITT Abt. 1872. She was born 27 Oct 1848 in France, and died 19 May 1933 in Manistee, Michigan. Her parents were of English origin.

Children of NELS OLSON and EMMA CUBITT are:
2.	i.	GEORGE NELS OLSON, b. 23 Dec 1872, Manistee, Michigan; d. 23 Dec 1926, Manistee, Michigan.
ii.	WILLIAM SAM OLSON, b. 01 Oct 1874, Manistee, Michigan.
iii.	CARRIE [CAROLYN] OLSON, b. Abt. 1877, Manistee, Michigan.
iv.	NORA OLSON, b. Jan 1880, Manistee, Michigan; d. Bef. 1900.
v.	? OLSON, d. Bef. 1900.
vi.	? OLSON, d. Bef. 1900.

By Norwegian naming customs, the 1st daughter should be named after the father's mother. The mother of my gg uncle Nels was Kari - the 1st daughter of the Manistee Nels Olson was Carrie!!!

Generation No. 2

2. GEORGE NELS OLSON was born 23 Dec 1872 in Manistee, Michigan, and died 23 Dec 1926 in Manistee, Michigan. He married EDITH M FOWLER 23 Jun 1894. She was born 30 Nov 1877 in Michigan, and died 25 May 1966.

Child of GEORGE OLSON and EDITH FOWLER is:
3.	i.	PEARL C OLSON, b. 18 Oct 1895, Manistee, Michigan.

Generation No. 3

3. PEARL C OLSON was born 18 Oct 1895 in Manistee, Michigan. She married FRANK V MUNSON 1916. He was born 26 Aug 1892 in Sears, MI, and died 30 Oct 1970 in Reed City, MI.

Children of PEARL C OLSON and FRANK MUNSON are:
4.	i.	BETTY JANE MUNSON, b. 05 Jun 1917, Manistee, Michigan; d. 28 Oct 1996, St. Petersburg, FL.
ii.	JACK MUNSON, b. Abt. 1929, Manistee, Michigan.
iii.	BOB BRUCE MUNSON, b. 07 Apr 1932, Manistee, Michigan; d. 11 Jan 2003, Manistee, Michigan.

All of this information came from research on ancestry.com.

Again, assuming that this is the correct Nels Olson, he would have been my great, great uncle.

Dave Gunderson

These records are clearly correct. The baptismal record for Peter Tucker in 1860 shows that Peder Ellingsen Tokerud was born the son of Elling Pedersen in Gran Parish, Hadeland, Oppland, Norway. Peter's mother was Elene Olsdatter.

Thank you!

Dave Gunderson

Nels Olson - Emma Frances Bugg Cubitt

I am trying to determine if Nels Olson [Niels Olsen Tokerud] b. 1840 Oppland, Norway d. 7 April 1914 in Newland, MI is my great, great uncle. This Manistee County Nels was married to Emma Frances Bugg Cubitt about 1872. They had 6 children, including the following:

George Nels Olson b. 1872 d. 1926 - was married to Edith Fowler b. 1877 d. 1966.
William Sam Olson b. 1 Oct 1874 Manistee
Carrie Olson b. 1877
Nora Olson b. Jan 1880 Manistee.

I have a picture of the Nels Olson I am looking for in the Manistee area. It was taken in the early 1870's.

My great uncle, Peter Tucker, married Hannah Sorensen in Manistee about 1911 when he was visiting his uncle Nels Olson. I have a copy of a wedding picture that includes two other members of the wedding party. Hannah Sorenson Tucker died in Manistee 19 Dec 1973.

The parents of the Nels Olson I am looking for were Ole Olsen Tokerud and Kari Nielsdatter. They both died in Winnebago County, IA. Nels is the only member of his immediate family that I haven't accounted for. The Manistee Nels Olson 1840-1914 seems a good candidate for my missing great, great uncle. I believe he and his wife are buried in Manistee in Oak Grove Cemetery. I need more information to confirm that this is the correct person. Obviously living descendants would help!!!

Dave Gunderson
Fergus Falls, MN
218-736-6326
davgund@prtel.com

His fathers name is William Finedore(Born 1858)
Came from Prussia Germany to the US around 1865-66?
Some say the name was changed. I have a pic of Williams Tombstone and it says William F. Findor 1859 - 1929
Do you think this is the same one, I hope so. That would help me with a city in Prussia.
Thanks Jeff
Hello Don, This email still works and you have reached me. I can't believe it has been that many years since I first posted this message. A very sharp cousin of mine saw the posting and let me know. I have been trying to get information on all of my g-grandmother's siblings. I also have two photos that were in my g-Uncle Lyle's belongings that do not have any names son them. For some reason an inkling tells me they are related to the Hinelines, but of course not completely sure. I live in mid-Michigan. Would be glad to swap information. I have a lot of Hineline/Heinlein information put together from other researchers.

Pat - I really have a hard time believing and accepting that we have made contact. It has been 10 years, 10 months and 27 days since you posted your original message. I tried to find out through the message board profile when your last activity may have occurred but could not find anything.

Because of the non-activity I really had very little hope of finding you. I was planning on trying an Internet search for you next which is a real wild shot in the dark because of last name changes and I did not have the state where you live.

Under your current username you have been active again. I am guessing that you had a break in membership.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to your sharp-eyed cousin, J.M.C., for connecting us up.

Give me a few days to figure something out and I'll be in touch again.

By the way, my wife and I were born and raised in near mid-Michigan, GRAND RAPIDS.

Don

We know the name of citys where they are born: Kempen, Woislawitz/Uschütz near to Breslau. We think, the name comes from the Hugenotten named "Fin d'Or" in origin. Do you have more dates from the Feindor-family? I will try to give you more information about that what we know about Feindor.
Hi Jeff,
I've got to look over my record tonight but if I recall correctly. The Feindor family arrived in US 1866 aboard the Hansa thru NY. Wilhelm married Amelia Mueller. Her fathers name was Heinrich(Henry) Mueller. I found probate records, etc which really helped sort some things out. Not had to much luck with birth places, etc. I'm sure that we are related. The name was anglicized as time went on and my great grandmother used Finedore too. I'm pretty sure your Henry and my great grandmother were siblings. Her name was Bertha. Get in touch. Jon

I have a relative who married a Frank Tomaszewski from Manistee area. I don't know her first name but I know her maiden name was Nradford and her parents were Hazel and Lawrence Bradford. She had a sister who was married to a Dale Bahr. She died on her family farm while doing some electrical work. I thin it must of been in 1956 or 1957. Plese let me know if you are related to this family.

Thanks, susan

Thanks so much for the info. I really appreciate it and it helps in my research.

I was wondering if you could look up an Edwin Pelarski. He was married to Belle Hazel Bradford Tomaszewski's sister. I don't know her name either. They lived in Manistee I think.

Thanks,
Susan
