The birth record for Bertha shows that her middle name was May. Evidently Lydia Hicks & Henry Harrison Fleming were divorced by 1920, but the divorce did not take place in Macomb Co. Charles Mann & Lydia Hicks Fleming must have married after 1940, but they had lived together for at least 20 years prior to that. He was living in her household as a boarder in Flint in 1930 and they both were living together in Romeo in 1940 where Lydia Fleming was listed as his sister which definitely was not true. She did die with the Mann surname on Aug 10 1969.
Ann, Volunteer Mount Clemens Library

I’m not related to any member of this family.

1940 is the last available census at this time.

Obits do not always state the place of burial.

Since the death is very recent, the suggestions may not have any information. Order the death cert directly from the Macomb County Clerks Office.
Hello,

Lydia Hicks was my great-grandmother (the mother of my grandma Bernice Bennett.) Was her middle name May? My sister has photos which our father left to us when he passed away a few years ago. Lydia Hicks had first married Harrison Fleming. We don't know what happened but she later married Charles Mann.

Would love more info! Rich Bennett

Neither Felix nor Constance Kujawa died in Macomb County. You will find the death certificate for Constance under the name of Konstancija Kujawa at SeekingMichigan.org She died in Detroit as a resident there. Felix probably died there as well, but those records are not online.

If you go to the Mount Clemens Public Library website http://www.mtclib.org/ and click on the genealogy tab, you will find a lot of Macomb County databases including an obituary index which includes James and Anna Marie Spencer. There are also instructions for obtaining copies. You may also find other records of interest.

All of those names appear in the index to St Peter Burial Records, however the Catherine you are looking for is not the right Catherine as the date is too late (1938). In the burial records, Cornelius was listed as the widower of Catherine Grimes. The burial records commence in 1869, and the cemetery in 1859 (there are a few earlier dates, but they may have been memorials or moved there).

When I read the Cemetery in the 1980s, the only two early Bogue stones I found were:
Patrick Bogue 1845-1909
Cornelius Bogue d Sept 29 1877 age 77y

For copies or further assistance, you can contact the Mount Clemens Public Library through the Genealogy Research Assistance page linked from their main Genealogy Page
http://www.mtclib.org/genealog.htm

I just came across your email from 2009. I was at Centennial Cemetery today in New Haven, Mich. and posted photos on find-a-grave of James & Catherine HERRIMAN's lovely joint headstone of pink granite - very stunning. I didn't see the other Herriman's you mentioned. I remembered their name as I was looking for others and taking photos since many need to be added for this partiular Cemetery. There are several old stones so I want to photograph them before the inscriptions fade away.

According to the obituary the father of John b 1794 was also named John, who supposedly was in the Revolution. I believe that both Lydia and her father were born in NJ. Email me at afaulkner4847 at wideopenwest.com and I will provide you with the rest of my notes. The 1850 census of Ontario co you provided pretty well confirms that Hugh was a son. He may not have been mentioned in the obituary because he predeceased his father & and had not moved to Macomb Co so would not have been of interest to local folks. The probate should mention Hugh's descendants especially if John died intestate.
Ann
I cannot answer question specifically as I have not checked his probate file, but I do have some information in my database from previous research I did on the Conger family. Lydia was a daughter of David Conger who also died in Macomb Co. The obituary of John Patton states that he was survived by 2 children, Mrs. H J Spier and James C Patton. It also mentions a deceased son Thomas C Patton. Also according to the obituary John Patton was born in Lancaster Co Pa 3 Apr 1794 and left home at the age of 19 and settled in Phelps, Ontario Co NY where in 1817 he married Lydia Conger. I do know for sure that John and Lydia were living in Ontario Co NY in 1839 from a deed by Hannah Conger. According to the obit John Patton came to Mt Clemens in 1852. Since you mentioned that Hugh was b in PA in 1828 & married there, I would say there is doubt that this John Patton was his father. However, I will check that probate file the next time I go to the Library to see if there is any mention of Hugh or his heirs.

John Patton born in PA died in Macomb in 1884 at age 91. His estate file is number 1878 on roll 42.Does it mention his sons James C. and Hugh or their descendants? Hugh died in 1882 in York County, PA. Trying to confirm that this John Patton is the father of Hugh born 1828 in PA and married about 1866 to Rebecca Mary Burgen in York County. Hugh is buried in the McKendree Church Cemetery in Airville, York County.
John came to Macomb with his wife Lydia born 1800. She is with him in the 1860 census but not in the 1870 census. Is anything further known of her?

Thanks so much. You have provided more that I could have hoped for. See John and Lydia in the 1850 Ontario census where Hugh age 21 born PA is in the family along with James and Velina. Perhaps Hugh and his father had a falling out or they just didn't keep in contact. I live in Maryland and can go to York and Lancaster in a little over an hour. I will try to find the father of John born 1794.
Was Lydia born in NJ or CT. Same question for David?
Thanks again. Its like you gave me some of your treasure.

The obit for Agnes is on Legacy.com along with the Guest Book. Somebody must have paid to keep it online forever. Sharon

Hi Kathi, I found the obits for William, Agnes, and Virginia in the Mt. Clemens Library obit index for the Macomb Daily. I can get them for you if you don't have them already. I was going there anyway. Also, William, Virginia and Michael D show up on Find A Grave in Clinton Grove Cemetery in Clinton Township, Macomb County. Sharon
