I'm searching for information on my great-grandfather, Herman A. Sperlich. According to my father, Grandpa Herman was born in Waldenburg. He left home after the 8th grade to seek his fortune in Detroit, but he and a partner later manufactured the Ironrite Ironer at a plant in Mount Clemens from 1946 to 1961. The sole document that I have is the 1920 Census, which indicates that his date of birth would have been c. 1883. I have no idea when or where he died, or what his parent's names were. Family lore says that Herman's father was killed in an accident while working for a railroad. It is possible that a Lutheran church in the Waldenburg area might have records pertaining to this family. If anyone knows the how to locate these records or has any information regarding this family, please contact me.
