Surnames: Rousseau, Rousseaux, Martin, Babineaux, Babineau, Delosier, Reso,
I've had a lot of posts and a lot of great responses but I'm still not being able to find anything~~ I will post everything I know about my 2nd great grandparents and I'm hoping someone here will see some detail I have over looked and will be able to give me the lead to find at least one of these people!!!

My 2nd great grandparents are Charles Rousseau and Charlotte Martin

1850 Mackinac Census
Solomon Martin born 1794 in Canada
Charlotte Martin b. 1834 in Michigan
Mary Martin b. 1837 in Michigan
Susan Martin b. 1839 in Michigan
Michael Martin b. 1841 in Michigan
**also been told Charlotte was born in Wisconsin or the great lakes area, I have no idea where to even look for the great lakes--that's a huge area to cover.

1860 Mackinac Census
Solomon Martin (house next door to Charles and Charlott)
Charles Rousseaux--worked as a Laborer (personal property value of,what looks like $13)--would there be a record of this any where?
Charlott Rousseaux--Indian
Antoine Babineaux--mulatto (indian)
Macala Babineaux--mulatto (indian)
****Antione and Macala are Charlotte's kids from her 1st husband, Antoine Babineaux. I'm beginning to suspect Macala may have been Charles' kid tho. This is also the only mention of Macala--he disappears from here on

1870 St. Ignace, Mackinac Census
Charles Rousseau--fisherman, (says he's a US citizen--does this mean he has been naturalized?)
Charlotte Rousseau
Joseph M Rousseau
Charlotte J. Rousseau (she disappears after this census)
Antoine Delosier (Indian) **this is Antoine Babineaux I believe**

1880 Hendricks, Mackinac Census
Charles Reso
Charlotte Reso
Antoine Reso --(I believe this is Antoine Babineaux, Delosier)
Joseph Reso
Charles Reso
John Reso---This is my great grandfather and I have a lot of his family information after he came to Minnesota.

What I have on Charles Rousseau is he was born about 1832 in Canada (I have no idea of exact date, year, place or his parents/siblings names)

For me he is a mystery until he shows up in the 1860 cesus in Mackinac and I have no idea what happened to him after the 1880 Mackinac cenus. I've been told Charles was in the Civil War but all the leads I have followed for this have not panned out.

Charles and Charlotte are in the census as married and I'm believing they married in Mackinac but there seems to be no record of the marriage any place.

Charlotte's parents I believe are Solomon Martin (because she, or at least a Charlotte was living with Solomon in 1850 as his daughter, and then in the 1860 census Charles and Charlotte lived next door to him. I have her mother listed as "Indian Squaw" and Lisette. I have found nothing on Lisette except the name which others have given me.

Joseph M.--I can't find one thing on him.

Charles Rousseau--family says he moved to Duluth, Minnesota but I have yet to be able to verify this. I found 2 Charles Rousseau death certificates in Duluth but neither fit him.

Antoine Babineau, Delosier, Reso ---I've been told he married an Esther but I have yet to find this record.

I've just recently been told there was another son, Charles Rousseau who was born Nov. 25, 1854 in Ste-Anne. I don't know if this would be Charles' son from another woman or if this is also Charlotte's son too?

John Jonas Rousseau---born May 17, 1875 in Beaver Island, Michigan. He told family he was raised in an orphanage on the Red Cliff Indian Reservation in Wisconsin but I have yet to be able to find anything on this. He also mentioned he had a daughter with a woman from the Fon du lac Reservation in Minnesota but I've yet to find this either. I have no idea what the mother's name is of this daughter. In 1907 John Jonas was in Grand Marais, Minnesota and I know the story from there until his death in Duluth, Minnesota.

I have, or should say can't find, the death records, marriage or birth information on any of these people except for my great grandfather John Jonas.

I'm assuming all (Joseph M., Charlotte, Charles) were all born in Mackinac County but where in the world do I get the informtion when there seems to be no records of it any where?

I don't think I've left anything out but if anyone can help me figure these extremely elusive people out I would really appreciate it.

I hate to keep posting but I'm very desperate to find any information on this family...I've been looking for so many years and nothing seems to change

Thank you,
Delayne
