William Bell - (born 1800 Onondaga County, New York died Sept. 30, 1885 Lenox Township, Macomb County, Michigan). Birth and death from cemetery records. He was a farmer. Married Roby Remington. The family lived in Orleans County, New York at the time of the 1850 U.S. census and had moved to Lenox Township, Macomb County, Michigan by the time of the 1860 census. By 1870 he had acquired $1,500 worth of real estate and $300 worth of personal property. He was a widower at the time of the 1880 U.S. census and living alone in the family home.
His Wife: Roby Remington (born June 19, 1804 died ? between 1870 and 1880).
Their Four Children:
1. Daughter - Elizabeth Ann Bell (born Nov. 10, 1827 Camillus, Onondaga County, New York died Jan. 17, 1899 Lenox Township, Macomb County, Michigan). Married Issaac Paddic Bates, 4 March 4, 1848, they had at least one child. She was known as Betsy Ann.
2. Son - Clark Bell (born ca. 1836 Yates, Orleans County, New York. died ? after 1850).
3. Daughter - Martha Bell (born ca. 1842 Yates, Orleans County New York died ? between 1850 and 1860 Lenox Township, MacombCounty, Michigan).
4. Son - Lafayette Bell born July, 1847 Yates, Orleans County New York died ? after 1910 Michigan). Married Mary L. Wiggins March 23, 1870 in Macomb County, Michigan. LDS Batch # M518583. He worked in a depot at the time of the 1880 U.S. census and lived with his wife in Hudson, Lenawee County, Michigan. There were no children at that time. In 1900, they had three children and a 79-year-old woman named Rachel Titus from Canada living with them, probably a cousin or aunt. The Bells lived in Hudson for almost 30 years. He was a widower at the time of the 1910 census, living alone in Hudson.
His Wife: Mary Lavinia Wiggins (born ca. 1854 Grand Lake-Jemseg, Queens County, New Brunswick died ? before 1910). She was a 26-year-old dressmaker at the time of the 1880 U.S. census and went by the given name Lavinia. Daughter of Daniel Slocum Wiggins and Elizabeth Titus Stone. She was 16 years old at the time of her marriage to Lafayette Bell. In 1870 they were living in the Bell home on the family farm.
Their Children:
1. Son - Glen B. Bell (born ca. 1876 died Feb. 2, 1878 Hudson, Lenawee County, Michigan) of brain fever.
2. Daughter - Bernice Bell (born September, 1880 Michigan died ?).
