BAY - Dorothy Nora
Mork, 95, a lifelong Suttons
BAY resident, died in Northport on Saturday, April 27, 2002 . She was born Oct. 16, 1906, to the late
Anton and
Marit (
Johnson)
Solem. She was the last surviving member of their 14 children. On June 16, 1926, she married Harold
Mork . Together they farmed, north of Suttons
BAY, for 40 years , raising potatoes, cattle and fruit. Harold preceded her in death in 1968. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, and sewing. She was well known for her beautiful quilts, which have been displayed at the
Leelanau County Museum ,
Traverse City
Opera House, and the University of
Michigan Museum. Her "
Bible Quilt" is at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Suttons
BAY where she was a long time member. Dorothy had taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir, and she liked helping make quilts for Lutheran World Missions . Dorothy volunteered for many years at the Penny Power
Thrift Shop. She enjoyed doll restoration and sewing clothes for dolls to be given to children by social services. Dorothy was also gifted with an ability to draw and paint and her work is treasured by friends and family alike. She was a member of the Suttons
BAY Friendship Center and played in the kitchen band. Dorothy is survived by her children ,

Waterford, Jerry and Betty
Mork of Northport, and Ray and Thea
Kellogg of Northport. She also is survived by 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter. Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, April 29, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 t o 9 p.m.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday , April 30, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons

Pastor Paul E. Kuhlman officiating. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Suttons
BAY. Memorial contributions may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Suttons
