I am trying to find David Hamler's death record/certificate so I can discover the names of his parents. He probably died in Sussex Co., NJ, but a bunch of Hamlers made a mass move from Sussex County, NJ to Lapeer, Michigan in the late 1880's, so he *might* have died in Michigan.
He and wife Amy (Drake) Hamler were living in Warren Co., NJ between the 1840's-1850's; then they moved to Sussex County where Amy delivered the second half of their children.
(Amy was born in 1822 in NJ and David was born bet. 1809 and 1813 in NJ.) They spent many years living in Green twp., Sussex Co., NJ.
David and Amy were in Green twp, Sussex Co. in the Census of 1880, and had to sign off on their grandson's distribution of goods upon his death in 1885; the Administrator was the grandson's friend, Job J. Decker.
Where do I go next to get David Hamler's Death Certificate or Death Record? I don't have a specific death date.
I also would like to find David and Amy Hamler's burial place, which was most likely in Sussex County, New Jersey. It also *could* be in LAPEER, MICHIGAN or Pennsylvania where Hamlers moved to from Sussex County.
In the end, I am trying to find the parents of not only David Hamler, but a man whom I strongly believe-and by much evidence-- to be David's older brother, my GGrandfather, William H. Hamler (1801Sus Co, NJ- 1854Sus Co, NJ).
I tried to get William's death record/certificate (I have a specific death date for him) but my application was returned saying that they had no record of his death. I have a photograph of Wm. H.'s gravestone which very clearly has a death death of Dec. 6, 1854. (He is buried at the Tranquility Methodist Church's grounds in Sussex Co., NJ.)
Thanks for any help!
