Kalkaska - Mrs. Ella I. Riley, 79, of Kalkaska, died early Thursday morning, July 9, 1981, at Lila Post Hospital in Battle Creek.
She was born in Kalkaska County on July 25, 1801, daughter of the late Robert and Mary Haskins Nelson. She was married to Solomon Jay Riley in Fife Lake on Oct. 28, 1922. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1979.
She was a member of the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church.
Mrs. Riley is survived by two sons, Jay of Arkansas, and Dan of Sherwood; six daughters, Mrs. Carl (Adeline) Yaudes of Nebraska, Mrs. Orville (Veretta) Hollister of Bellvue, Mrs. Lyle (Elma) Walbey of East Leroy, Mrs. Charles (Georgia) Thornburg of Lakeview, Mrs. James (Glenna) Thornburg of Athens, and Mrs. John (Mary Lee) Tenney of Battle Creek; one brother, Raleigh Nelson of Rochester; one sister, Mrs. Olive Wolff of Kalkaska; one half brother, Arthur Nelson of Carp Lake; 35 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, 1981 at the Schwartz-Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Rev. Ron Jackson officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
