Last Rites Thursday for John Peterson. John Peterson, a 40 year resident of the county, died on June 2, at Munson Hospital in Traverse City. Mr. Peterson was born on September 12, 1875. The greater part of his life was spent as a fireman on the Great Lakes boats. Forty years ago Mrs. Peterson came to Kalkaska county settling on a farm near Williamsburg. On June 3, 1919, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kittie Letherby and they made their home a the farm until the time of Mr. Peterson's death. Surviving are the wife, Kittie, four step-children, Mrs. Bessie Allen of Sturgis, Mrs. Mae Hansen of Three Rivers, William Letherby of Three Rivers and Jesse Letherby of Williamsburg; a brother, Oscar of Holland, four grandchildren and two great grandchilren. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Berg Funeral Home with Rev. James Mathews officiating. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery. - Leader and Kalkaskian, June 5, 1952
