Of Kalamazoo, MI
Passed away at Munson Medical Center under Hospice care in Traverse City, MI on July 15, 2008. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI on February 18, 1921, the daughter of John and Florence Van Sweden. June enjoyed conversations with friends, a love of reading, and involvement in her church. She served as a Gray Lady during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. June is survived by a sister, Nancy Davis of Largo, FL; a son, Phillip (Joanne) Scott of Kalkaska, MI; a daughter, Shannon (Roy) Ward of Rhinelander, WI; grandchildren, Andrew (Kimberly) Scott of Pawcatuck, Conn., Steven Scott of Kalkaska, MI, Kelley (Pat) Short of Rhinelander, WI, Daniel (Stephanie) Ward of Rhinelander, WI; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. June will be greatly missed. June was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Scott in 2002, her parents and sister, Joyce Kooyers. A memorial service will be held July 31, 2008 at 11 AM at St. Andrew Community Church, 805 Mill Street, Kalamazoo, MI. Memorials may be directed to: St. Andrew Community Church, c/o Rev. Jim Dyke, 6781 E. V Ave., Vicksburg, MI 49097 or to the Salvation Army.
