Passed away on July 22, 2007 at Borgess Medical Center. Winona was born on January 26, 1957 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of James and Norma (Simmons) Pion. Winona worked for James River in quality control for 26 years. She was a lifetime member of the Potawatamie Tribe and was active in search and rescue. Winona was preceded in death by her father, James, her sister Nancy and a nephew James Hammond. Surviving are her mother, Norma Pion of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Annette Hammond and Linda (Rick) Hammond all of South Haven, MI and Denise Jamie (Bert) Pion-Ritter of Phoenix, AZ; two cats, Shorty & D2; three dogs, Winter, Grizz & Chance one niece; one nephew and many friends. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at

where a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM. Elder Frank Brooks Officiating. Refreshments and fellowship will follow at Sunnyside United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Paws with a Cause or S.W. Michigan Cancer Center.
