Mr. Gould Fox- Died Thursday afternoon, April 4, 2002. Gould was born March 25, 1905 in Kalamazoo, the son of William R. and Carrie (Gould) Fox, and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. He attended the Kalamazoo schools; Kalamazoo College; and graduated with a J.D. Degree from the University of Chicago. Gould served on the Board of Trustees and President of the Board of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member since 1913. He entered practice of law with his father in 1928, and continued in practice from 1928-1999. Gould was always active in community affairs and served on various boards, including Board of Trustees of Bronson Hospital for 44 years; the former Fidelity Savings and Loan; Trustee of the Y.W.C.A; Board of the former Lakeside Boy's and Girl's Home; the United Way; the State Probate Committee; helped organize and was the first president of the Visiting Nurse Association and the Constance Brown Hearing and Speech Center. On July 8, 1933 he was united in marriage to the former Rhea Jenks-Meader, who preceded him in death on July 25, 1997. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Percival; and a brother, Judge Raymond Fox. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Miller of Ft. Wayne; 4 grandchildren, Stephen G. Miller of Ft. Wayne, Alan F. (Robin) Miller of Boise, ID, David W. Miller of Columbus, OH, Derek (Heather) Percival of Kansas City, MO; 3 great-grandchildren, Sara Miller, Garrett and Emma Percival; a niece and nephew, Tricia Fox and Phillip Fox. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 o'clock Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park St. with Rev. Dr. Douglas Vernon officiating. Private interment of cremains will be in the church columbarium. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, the Gould Fox Fund at the Kalamazoo Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
