Lieckfeldt / Lickfeldt from Hamburg, Germany to Brazil ?

Hello Rafael,
I saw that this post was from 2001, but will respond
anyway and also see if your email still works. I have
been working with genealogy since 1986 and came across
my Lieckfeldt/Lickfeldt line and did some work on it in
1993-1994. I received a letter back from the church in Ferdinandshof, Germany in 1996. They were able to give
me some information about the family at that time. then
I started searching the line again in 2006 and have come
across some interesting information. I can tell you that
the as of this year 2013, documents show the family goes
back to the year 1597. The "Main Lieckfeldt Tree" was
originated in Pommern, Germany and over time some of them branched out to Mecklenburg, Hamburg, Brazil and to the
United States. the Lieckfeldt Families in the United
States that I know go back to Pommern, Germany are in
Illinois (myself), some in Ohio and Michigan, and New York.
I am currently working on the Lieckfeldt tree trying to connect them all together from about a 300 year span of
mixed and broken branches. Will list my email for future
reference if you can make contact back with me, would be
extremely happy to see how our tree branches connect.
****pommern@ymail.com****

Sincerely,
Ronald Grap, Jr.
Metamora, Illinois, USA

I'm trying to find out where Herbert is buried. Herbert was residing in Whittemore, Iosco County, at the time of his death. Prior to that he resided in Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Township, Wayne County with his wife Thelma for 30-40 years. He also had a son. Listed in the 1940 Census as Hurbert Richard Groening. Difference in first names could have been a transcription error. An obituary would be nice, but where he was buried would suffice.

Herbert Richard Groening
Birth: 29 September 1902 in Ludington, Mason County, MI
Death: 9 May 1989 in Whittemore, Iosco County, MI

Hebner Family of Oscoda

Frank H. Hebner was a resident of Oscoda. He was born 18 Nov 1878 Grant Township, St. Clair County, Michigan, to William James Hebner and Lucy Greenlaw. He married Georgianna Fulton (1880 - 1957) 18 Nov 1899 in Tawas City. Frank and Georgianna had the following children: Henrietta, Roland, Mona, Faye and Francis "Frank."

Frank lived in Oscoda except in 1930 when he is found in Detroit. He died 25 Feb 1974 in Redford, Wayne County, Michigan and is buried with Georgianna in Pine Crest Cemetery, Oscoda.

Frank's mother Lucy is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cheboygan County, Michigan, and apparently his father William is also; although the grave is "occupied" there is no further information. William's name is mentioned in the Tawas newspaper index from time to time, as well as a daughter, Ethel Hebner, who died in Onaway 16 April 1906.

Does anyone recognize this family and could help me fill in the blanks, especially regarding Frank and Georgianna's children and Frank's father William Hebner?

Thank you for the response. We know that Charles Paquette and Leocadie Pelletier/Pelkey married on 17 Jan 1887 in AuSable, Iosco Co MI. The birth of their dght Eva (1890) and an unnamed son (1889) are recorded on the Iosco Co Birth records. I was in hopes that the birth record of Henry had been overlooked by the transcriber. He was their first child so it may have been as you have mentioned - lack of money.

Regards, Bettye

The 1880 census, according to ancestry.com, has them in Oscoda. The children listed were: Daniel, William, Fannie, Charly, Maggie, and a nephew named John. The spelling was Pelett. The correct spelling is Pellette. Daniel did move in Wisconsin where he married Clara Blish. However, I cannot track him beyond the 1900 census. There are several spelling I know of now for the name: Pellett, Pelette, Pelett, and Palett. There may be more. Daniel was born in Quebec about 2 years before they moved to Michigan.

It will take several months to transcribe all the states.

1880 - This family does not appear in Oscoda county, MICH.

Perhaps they went back to Canada??

barbdale, JACKPOT!! MANY THANKS! Phebe? Never would have guessed. Learned a couple of things thanks to you and one of them was the Automated Web Site. While doing the reasearch on my wife's lineage we always visited the reservations, churches across the Canadian border as I could not read French as most of the sites on line in Quebec were in French so it was easier to visit and while search via the Net the amount of census sites were very difficult, for me, to navigate. This opens a big door towards completing my Mother's family. Thanks once more. Vern

In the 1870 census for Emerson, Gratiot County, Michigan, there is an Alzina Lake, age 62, housekeeper, living in the household of L.M. Ogden (female). In the Michigan marriages there is a Lorinda Lake who married an Ogden.
Also, Alzina Lake is listed as being buried in Laidlaw Cemetery (per Iosco County genweb)

The extra information was very helpful. I found a family that may be your Jane Lake's. Go to www.automatedgenealogy.com and click on the link in the upper right hand corner that says 1852ca. Then search for the surname Lake. There is a family living in Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario

The parents are on one page, and the children on the next.
Nicholas Lake, age 49, born Canada, Wesleyan Methodist, farmer
Alvina Lake, age 46
John Lake, age 21
Almira Lake, age 19
Lorenda Lake, age 17
Eliza Anne Lake, age 15
Louisa Lake, age 13
Phebe Jane Lake, age 11
Alfred Lake, age 9
Amos Lake, age 6
Amelia Lake, age 3

When I previously casted my net I forgot to mend all of the holes in it. Sorry. Do appreciate the replies, so let me start over. Jane Lake or Laidlaw, death certificate reflects Jane Lake Shippey married James A Shippey in Sanilac county 23 June 1857. Jane born Canada abt. 1842, James born Connecticut, abt. 27 June 1833. James tombstone shows birth of 1829Janes parents and James A following timber employment. Lived and raised family in Iosco County. James died Tawas Township and Jane died at the home of her daughter Maud Wright in Pinnoningh. Both buried in Tawas township. Having much trouble with Jane. Her sister Sahah Amelia (Millie) married Ebenezer Laidlaw, proment lumberman of Iosco County and Judge of Probate. Another sister Elizabeth Ann married Ebenezer's brother James Ellsworth. Amos lake, Jane's brother, James Shippey and Ebenezer Laidlaid and Walter (Ebenezer' broth) All homesteaded large properties on Laidlaw road, in an area know as Laidlawville. While much is known I cannot find Jane prior to her marriage to James and to make more confusion Her tombstone reads Jean not Jane. Maybe the maker of the monument could not spell but, need any info to clear up this family tree. Thanks to all.

Hi Mary,
Very late response, but maybe it will help. As far as I understand it, East Tawas would be the mailing address for all the places you mentioned. If you look up East Tawas on mapquest, it shows you a pinpoint on Bay street. Baldwin Township would be just north of that along Wilber Rd/ Old US 23, and Wilber's southern border is Galion Road I believe. If you are interested, I have access to platt books (not sure how far back, but it will help with the borders) and we probably had some family in the area around the same time. Let me know if I can help further!
Kelly
