Carl Earl Johnson b. abt 1899 in the 1930 census to Estella "Stella" who had a son in 1928 so the marriage would have been abt that time. Could be in WI if not in MI since she was born and married to a MR Haney back then. Carls other birth date on other census records in MI shows Feb 8, 1907 in Michigan. Also, need a divorce on them, would have been after 1935, between 1936-1937 about. I would like to know if he was married (total of 3 times) and to whom between Stella and Evelyn. On Evelyns marriage certificate it shows he was married twice. Evelyn and Carl were married in Ionia MI 1943, March 6.

 To ?

Thanks for the information. I have Ancestry so had
the info. Alonzo was born in 1881 so he should show up
in the local records.

I have Alonzo D. Brewsters marriage to Lucina Dodge. I was
hoping that someone had a record of their son Georges birth in Dec. 1851. I know that records weren't kept
until June 1867 but I was hoping someone had that
information & George's son Alonzo's birth. They kept
records in 1881 but I don't have access to that county.
Thanks again.

Darlene T. Holling

I'm not related to this family.

FYI -
All census records prior to the 1850 census only listed the head of household; whether male or female.

NO specific age was stated for any family member
NO place of birth was stated – city, state, or country
NO city, town, or village is stated – only the county
NO marital status was stated – single, married, widowed, divorced
NO family relationship was stated – brother, sister, cousin, son, daughter, wife, inlaw, etc…
NO occupation was stated
NO parental birthplaces are stated
NO race was stated [but assume “white”]

1850, 1860 & 1870 census records do not show family relationships or parental birthplaces.

1850 -
Name: Lucina Brewster
Age: 23
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827
Birth Place: New York
Gender: Female
Home in 1850(City,County,State): Lyons, Ionia, Michigan

A B Brewster 35, NY - farmer [AKA - Alonzo]
Lucina Brewster 23, NY
Albert Brewster 4, MI
John C Brewster 2, MI
Morgan Brewster 19, NY

1860 -
Name: George Brewster
Age in 1860: 9
Birth Year: abt 1851
Birthplace: Michigan
Home in 1860: Ionia, Ionia, Michigan
Gender: Male
Post Office: Ionia

David Dodge 61, NY - farmer
Ruth F Dodge 59, MASS
George Brewster 9, MI

If both parents [Alonzo & Lucina] died before the 1860 census, then George would most likely be a g/son to David Dodge.

Michigan did not require “by law” birth and death registration until 1867.

1870 -
Name: George Brewster
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1851
Age in 1870: 19
Birthplace: Michigan
Home in 1870: Clinton, Lenawee, Michigan
Race: White
Gender: Male

George Brewster 22, MI - farm hand
Ellen Brewster 21, MI

1880 -
Name: George E.
I'm trying to find if Alonzo Brewster & wife Lucina
Dodge who were married in Ionia 26, March 1845 had a son
George E. born in Dec. 1850?

Also since they had a son John C. Brewster who married
there also to Harriet Blanchard 6, Oct. 1845?

It seems likely that Alonzo & John C. might have been
brothers-borth born in VT.

Thanks for any help.

Darlene T. This is
according to the 1850 Census of Lyons.
I couldn't find John & Harriet in 1850. Where were they?

Darlene T. Holling

I know, I spent a bit of time searching the 1860 census by last names, first names, by birthdates and states born in, everything, but I can only guess that they for some reason missed the census because they were moving or something, or maybe he put his family up with someone while he went off to war and they weren't counted . . .

Hi, I'm just curious - do you have something showing officially that Joseph Bradley is James Bradley and Parnel Stone's son? If you had something scanned or a reference I'd really like to include it in my research. Thanks! I'm sure you already have these docs, but I thought I'd attach them anyway in case you wanted them. They are death records.

I do have the docs...thanks.
No definite information on Joseph being the child of James and Parnel. However, I have been in touch with the historical society in E. Bloomfield, NY. That's where James and Parnel are buried. The books from the church have been sent out (naturally) to be re-done. When they get back, "they" will send me the info. One thing should be the marriage record for Joseph and Mary, and maybe even Orson and Rachel Carnes. Always so close, but never quite there. Just constantly digging.
More to you later.
S.

James Henry LAKE, son of Brownell Lake and Rebecca Haight, was b. 14 Mar 1846 in NY, d. 25 Feb 1912, Coldwater, Branch, MI. He died of Delerium or Delerious tremors. Death informant was Asa Haight of Sherman City.

Brownell, wife Rebecca, and son James LAKE were living with Henry UDALL, his daughter Carrie UDALL, as well as Mrs. Rachel FOOT and her step-sons (or possibly nephews), Charles and Loren FOOT, in Berlin, Ionia, MI, in 1880. (Charles and Loren were the sons of Alanson Lewis FOOTE and Alzora THOMAS).

Foot / Foote and Udall / Udell families were related through various marriages, but I'm uncertain of the relationship to the LAKE family. I'd love to learn of it if anyone has anything to share!

Hope this helps!

Cynthia

This is a long-shot, but here is what I have. Anna Corrington (b. 1851 MI), daughter of Joseph Corrington (or Carrington?), married Harvey (or Henry) Wiser about 1867 in MI, probably Branch county, since she was from Quincy.

Harvey Wiser, b. 1830, NY, died 12 Dec 1896, Quincy, Branch, MI. Harvey WISER's father was listed as JOHN Wiser, mother was JANE Wiser. I don't know if there is any connection, but the names jumped out at me.

I am looking for the Stephen and Amanda DENNO/DENNY family that is listed in the 1870 & 1880 census (can't find the 1900) in Lyons, Ionia County, MI. They had the following children that I have found through census records: William, George H, Albert, Etta M, Fred and Ray. I have not been able to find any information on the children except for George H. He married Gertrude (nee MAES) and had a couple of children (I think). I would like to find out more about these people.

Alice HISCOCK was the daughter of Joel Hiscock and Mercy Ann (Sweat) Hiscock. She was born in Michigan. Her parents lived in North Plains, Ionia Co., Michigan which is probably where she was born in 1854.

She married Louis (P.) ORTH on 22 Mar 1880 in Ionia Co. I believe they lived in Traverse City, Grand Traverse Co., Michigan and had a son named Robert.

According to the pre-1916 Illinois Death Index at the Illinois State Archives, Alice was 40 years old when she died on 11 Jun 1894 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. She is listed only as "Orth, L P (Mrs.)". Her sister, Mary Olivia NICHOLS lived in Chicago.

A little of both, I suppose. Alice was my gggrandmother's sister. I have a picture of her and wanted to know more about her. When I was looking for information about her, I found her in Ionia Co. MI in 1880. When I looked at the next available census in 1900, I couldn't find her by her married name, Alice Orth. I did find her husband, Louis P. Orth, married to Jennie Adsit and living in Nebraska. I found that after she married Louis Orth in 1880, they ended up in Traverse City, MI based on the place of birth on their son's draft registration. So I looked all over for evidence of her death between 1880 and 1900. I couldn't find it in Michigan. I finally found her listed at the Illinois State Archives as having died in Cook County. I have not found her more directly in Cook County death indexes. Her death information was the hardest to find and I thought it might help someone else if I posted it. I don't have a specific question to post but I would like to know more about her.

Thank you. Her complete name is Ruth Fern Davis Feathers and was adopted by George C Feathers and Gertrude Roberts Feathers. I found her in the SS Index and that info directed me to the Ionia, MI site. She died there at Lake Odessa, 16 Feb 2005. I thought someone could direct me to a library or other site where I could search for a obit since her death was fairly recent.
