I'm looking for any information about the family of Sanford White (son of Stephen White) and Mary M Foote, especially about their supposed daughter Nelly White.
Nelly White (born 1882) married William F. Carter around 1899 or so, and appear in the 1900 Census living in Campbell Township near Sanford and Mary White, and with Sanford's sister and Nelly's aunt, Sarah Van Tassell, widow of Caleb Van Tassell.
Nelly died in Lapeer county around 1903 during child birth. The problem I'm having is that there is no really good record of her. In the 1900 and 1910 censuses, the number of Mary Foote White's children listed does not reflect Nelly in any way (2 kids, 1 still living; son Elmer and daughter Sarah, who died in 1890)
A 1909 Carter genealogy book lists Nelly's father as Sanford White of Campbell, Ionia, MI, but does not list her mother, or where and when she died.
The final mystery is that on my great grandfather's death record, his mother's name is "nellie harrington"
any ideas?
