AUSTINTOWN, OH - Carol Ann Bacon, 74, died April, 4, 2017, at 6:10 a.m., at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman, Ohio. (Mahoning County)
Carol was born on April 20, 1942, in Laurium, Michigan, the daughter of the late Wilbert W. Djerf and Anna Margaret (Bichy) Djerf.
Carol was a 1960 graduate of Calumet High School in Michigan.
She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Austintown, OH.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, spending time at the library and gardening.
Surviving her, James Bacon, whom she married on Nov. 10, 1962; children, James (Mary Beth) Bacon of Poland, Ohio, David Bacon of Austintown, OH and Susan Bacon of Las Vegas; grandchildren Nicholas Hlivak of Syracuse, N.Y. and Jake Bacon of Poland; and brothers Roy (Judy) Djerf of Escanaba, Michigan and Ed Jackson of Minneapolis.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Patrick Bacon.
Family and friends may call April 6, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
A Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road in Austintown, OH
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Austintown Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown, OH 44515

Fulton Location, Mohawk

Olga E. Djerf, 88, a former resident of Fulton Location, Mohawk passed away Thursday evening, June 6, at Portage View Hospital in Hancock following a short illness.
She was born on October 13, 1903 in Greenland, Michigan a daughter of the late Elizabeth and Frederick Djerf.
As a child she moved to Mohawk with her family and attended the local schools in Mohawk.
She later moved to Detroit in the early 1920’s where she worked as an assistant supervisor for Detroit Edison for 32 years retiring in 1969 when she returned to Mohawk to make her home.
For the past 17 months she has been a resident patient at Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Keweenaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Surviving are 3 nephews, Edwin (Joan) Djerf of Calumet, MI
Roy (Judy) Djerf of Wells, MI
Mike (Gail) Djerf of Munising, MI

3 nieces: Carol (James) Bacon of Youngstown, Ohio
Lois (Pat) Kennedy of Menominee, MI
Phyllis (Robert) Piirala of White Pine, MI

Several great nieces, great nephews, a great great nephew, Marc and several cousins.
