600 at Family reunion
Calumet Nearly 600 members of the Nordstrom family, coming from all parts of the northwest, gathered at Eagle River Monday for their second annual reunion. The first meeting of this group was held in 1903 when 150 attended the celebration of the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Nils Nordstrom . Last year at the first annual reunion , over 500 members of the Nils Nordstrom branch of the family met at Big Traverse bay.
Nordstroms at the reunion this year came from all over the Upper Peninsula , Minnesota, Chicago , Detroit , Milwaukee, as well as from other points in the northwest. The Keweenaw band furnished music during the day,William E. smith was the speaker of the day. In addition , a program of sports for the children and entertainment for the adults was arranged by the comittee.
My father told me that the Nordström family was so large that they had their own band in Mohawk. He had a photo but gave it away before I could copy it.
