I am doing some research for a friend and I am looking for information on Richard B. Coleman who was born, possibly in New York in 1814, He purchased a land patent in Hillsdale County in 1839. He married and Electa, surname unknown, who died in Hillsdale County in 1863. They had 1 son, Reuben Peltar Coleman who was born in 1843 in Hillsdale County.
I suspect that Richard's father may be a Samuel Coleman who also resided in Hillsdale County at this time, but I can, so far, find no hard evidence to support this. A will or probate record may solve this question.
As I live in Missouri, I cannot readily research Hillsdale County records.
If anyone can help, I will appreciate it very much.
