My mother just told me Bovee was on the south side of the railroad tracks just west of Engadine about 6 or 7 miles. Right now there is an overpass on US-2 at the spot. US-2 wasn't there at the time. My grandmothers family lived in a shack there around 1915. The family name was Thomas Vallier. My email is tderwint@hotmail.com if I can be any more help.

My ancestor Elizabeth Growden, daughter of Joseph Growden and Elizabeth Coker married Charles Langsford. My tree has many Cornish people, my great grandmother Louisa Growden, b 1842, St. neot was daughter to Jenefer Keast Barnicoat, b 1804 St.Neot, Cornwall and Joseph Growden, b 1804 Cornwall. Joseph's sister was Elizabeth who married Charles.
Regards
Janet

Dear Grace, I am Anthony`s grandaughter .I just started working on the history so here`s what I have. I have a picture of the 8 brothers when your grandfather came to visit in the 50`s. I was suprised to learn there were also 4 sisters whom I`m having a hard time finding out about. There`s a daughter left from Paul who is 91 so I got most of my info. from her.I`m kicking myself I didn`t ask my mother more when she was alive. So Antoine b. 1847 in Prussia and Agustina b.1851 in Prussia. They came over in 1875 or 1876. received a free grant of 200 acres in Hagerty Twsp. In 1875. Antoine travels to Eganville Ontario with brothers Paul and Albert as witnesses to register his location and has cleared 12 acres. His brother-in-law John Palubicki registers his 200 acres next door on mar. 10 1877. They had 12 children 4 girls 8 boys . In order of age they are BARNEY b. Prussia 1869 d. 1956-----m. Joanna Blank in Brudenell on June 20 1892. AGATHA b.Prussia 1872 m. Thomas Yandernoll in Wilno on Feb.10 1890.JOSEPH b. Hagerty Twsp 1874 m. Elizabetha Flis or Fleece on Feb 14 1897. JOHN b. 1875 m.Anna Rekowska on Jan.21 1901. MARYANNA b.1878 m.Felix Flis on July 16 1894.FRANCIS b.1879???. HELENE b.may 10 1881 m.Theophile Lazynski on july 5 1898. MAGDALENA b.July 25 1883 m.Rory mask onJuly 13 1903. THOMAS mb. dec. 7 1884 m.Frances Prince on Sept. 20 1909. VINCENT b.Mar. 25 1886m. Anna Palubicki in 1912 in Minnesota. ANTHONY b.Mar. 4 1888 m. 1ST wife Julia Peplinski on July 21 1911 in Killaloe ,Julia died in childbirth in 1933 leaving 9 living children. In 1935 he married Anna Rouble and had 3 children. PAUL A. b.JAN.19 1890 m. Anna Peplinski i sister of Julia in 1915. So I hope this gives you something to worr on and if any of the other decendents have any thing to offer it would be appreciated. My mother was one of Anthoney`s 9 children. Tony was the last of the 12 when he died in 1976. All the best Louise

I see this was posted quite awhile ago but I thought I'd write anyway. I know that in the early 1930's my great grandparents were looking to adopt. They lived in Gogebic County but had to go to Houghton County -- it was called Good Will Farms (that is where my grandfather was surrendered by his parents and adopted by my great grandparents)

It said that a daughter, Orlie age 6, died in 1904.

Is it possible that you have the wrong date of death or was that an error on the part of whomever wrote Catherine's obit?

In case you don't have it, here's Catherine's obit from the Wakefield News, Friday Apr 25, 1952; Page 1:

The sewer at the point where Winn was working was about ten feet deep and in loose soil. It had been cribbed to keep it from caving but an unexpected fall of ground completely covered the unfortunate
workman and before he could be taken out life was extinct.
As soon as the accident occurred assistance was sent for and the body exhumed as quickly as possible. No bones were broken and the unfortunate man had only one or two slight
scratches on his person, going to show that death resulted from suffocation.

Deceased was a well to do citizen of this city and was sixty-two years of age. He leaves two daughters in Ironwood, Mrs. Rowell and Mrs. Watters, and a daughter in the west. The funeral was held Friday.
