Hi Linda-

I just talked to my sister who remembers more and she says she remembers Charles Mann. One time we went to Romeo Michigan to visit. She said he had lost his hand in the factory and had a hook which scared the kids. He is buried in Romeo Michigan. Also, Lydia Hicks was my grandma's mother's maiden name. Who married a Fleming and later married Charles Mann.

We have photos....

Rich Bennett

Hi Linda-

Bernice Bennett was my grandmother in Flint. Charles Mann (aka Chuck) was her step-father. Mrs. Hicks was Aunt Marceline and Ruby Payne I'm unsure of although Payne was the married name of Aunt Charlotte (My grandma's sister). Aunt Buelah I don't think I ever met but I remember hearing about her.

Are you related to Charles Mann? I think my father may have kept his obituary. My Dad past away a few years back and my sister has all of that now.

Rich Bennett

Meoak, Lela Lenore Ellsworth

Lela Lenore Meoak is in the presence of the Almighty God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She left to be reunited with her beloved husband on May 3, 2013 at 11:58 a.m. from the home of her daughter. Lenore was born August 12, 1934 in Davison, Michigan and was the third daughter of Arthur H. and Louise Ellsworth. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Dee Meoak, on July 3, 1952 in Davison, Michigan. After 58 years of marriage, Richard was called home.

Lenore graduated from Davison High School in 1952 and was a Job's Daughter. In 1957, Lenore and Dick moved to Kokomo, Indiana. Her job was to be a wife and mother. God chose Lenore to be the mother of Richard Dee Jr., a child that would have very special needs and would become the 1966 Howard County Easter Seal Child. Her loving care to Ricky enabled him to survive a handicap beyond doctor's expectation. She was a gentle woman whose main priority was her husband, her children and grandchildren. She collected dolls, teddy bears, Fenton glass and many other treasures. She loved to rummage sale, go to auctions and refinish antiques. She made quilts and dresses for her daughters. Lenore enjoyed finding surprises for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, bowling and playing bridge. Lenore and Dick had a lake cottage in Warsaw and an RV that they enjoyed for many years traveling throughout the U.S. as well as Alaska and Nova Scotia. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her children feel greatly honored and blessed that God shared her with them. She was truly a woman of noble character.

Surviving are sister, Virginia Lassen; brother, Arthur Ellsworth; daughters, Laurene and husband Jeff Whiteford, and Marsha and husband Brian Coop, both of Kokomo; son, Mike Meoak and fiancé Janice Smith of Martinsville; grandchildren, Daniel and wife Caprice Coop, Jessica and husband Ben Whited, Amber and husband Brian Pluckebaum, Joseph and wife Erin Whiteford, Joel Whiteford, Dustin and wife Amanda Coop, and Nicole Coop, all of Kokomo, Steven Meoak of Greenwood, Indiana, and Joseph Meoak of Martinsville, Indiana; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Gabriel Whited, Emily and Joshua Pluckebaum, Gage and Gracie Coop, Ransom and Salem Whiteford and Camden Coop.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Lois Issacson; and two sons, Richard Dee, Jr. and Joel Lynn.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Messages of condolence may be expressed online at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.

Hi sorry to respond to such an old post, I can't help myself. the coincidence is to great.

I literally googled "Baptist Seminary Fenton MI" not thinking to do it on Ancestry(newbie)and it, of course, brought me here to your post.

I almost choked when I read the part of you playing there and the years you gave. Because the very reason I googled it in the first place was finding the pictures of it on my dad's camera that he must have taken in the last few years.

And that made me remember the stories my dad told me of playing in the yard(and breaking the ceramic eggs in the chicken coop-naughty kid) while waiting for his mom and grandfather to attend to their business there because at the time my g.grandfather owned?/ran? it. And I had heard he owned it at the time of his sudden death in December of 1948.
My father was born in 1945, and his memories would have been through 49 I imagine. So if you didn't have any ceramic eggs left to play with, I know who to blame LOL.
And just like you said, that old place always stayed in his heart, enough for him to take pictures all those years later. And we both would love to see it restored, it is really a magnificent structure, and oddly enough, I wasn't born or raised around it, but I now drive past it often around town, coming full circle in the family.

O'brien Family in Flint and surrounding areas

hi everyone, I am looking for information on my Great Great grandparents, David and Mary (O'Keefe) O'brien. They came to the USA from Limerick Ireland and settled in the Flint Michigan area. The last place I can find them is in the 1870 census, living in Flint. David was 55 and Mary 50 at that time. I have an article from the "History of Genesee County" (1915) stating that their "last years" were spent in the Flint area, yet I am unable to find a death record or burial place. David and Mary are the Grand parents of James P. Cole Sr. who was Chief of Police in Flint in the early 1900s (James P. Cole Blvd is named after him). And ideas, suggestions or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mary

My great, great parents were Charles M.Moseman, born 1806,
in Bedford, Westchester Co., New York and Harriet V. Mills, born 1808. They were married in 1828, and settled in Ionia, Michigan, in 1834. He is buried in Oak Hill, Cemetary,in Ionia. My great grandmother was Helen Moseman Wison. I have
just begun research on the Moseman's but recenty discovered
that my father applied for the SAR and I am going to try to get his records. I am aware that Marcus Moseman, Jr. is a direct decendent but I am trying to find out who were the
parents of Charles M. Moseman and also Harriet V. Mills.

hELLO, I AM TRYING TO FIND A CONNECTION BETWEEN MY GREAT-GRANDMOTHER ELIZABETH H MOSEMAN AND THE CHARLES AND HARRIET MOSEMAN WHO WERE IN THE 1850 CENCUS IN IONIA, MICHIGAN. SHE MARRIED NATHAN DODSON BARNES IN LEE COUNTY, ILLINOIS IN 1855. I HAVEN'T FOUND ANY OTHER MOSEMAN'S IN ILLINOIS, SO THOUGHT MAYBE SHE COULD HAVE BEEN THEIR DAUGHTER. HER OLDEST SON WAS CHARLES BARNES, MY GRANDFATHER. I KNOW SHE WAS BORN IN BEDFORD, NEW YORK AND THAT SHE WAS A DESCENDANT OF MARCUS MOSEMAN, BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND HER PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS AND SIBLINGS. HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME. That's so neat that you went to school with my Uncle Rollie. I am having a hard time finding anything out about my Great Grandmother, Elvia, so I am really looking forward to finding out any info that you have. My entire family still lives in Genesee Co. I had to get out of Flint, I live in Williamsburg VA and I love the South. I live in a place that is so rich in history, it has made me think about my own family history. Thank you for everything. I am sure that I will be talking to you soon.

Tina
