Hi,
I was wondering if you are a relative of George Dart. I am, and in with of few newspaper clippings/photos etc, I found a clipping which mentions a Frankie Granger who was in town (Kalamazoo) looking for his father. I have wondered who Frankie Granger was, and why someone in my family kept the clipping. Please let me know if you have any info related to that.
Not sure if anyone is monitoring this message board anymore but I have Schluttenhofer (Hoffer) information that I would be happy to share. This information is not regarding Albert but rather Ralph Martin Hoffer and his wife Mary Joanne (Basler) Hoffer (Ralph's father changed their family name from Schluttenhofer to Hoffer).

I would like to share with any Schluttenhofer family members interested and would like to get copies of any Schluttenhofer photos that one would be willing to share. I have one Schluttenhofer photo that I can share.

My connection to the Schluttenhofer's is through Francis Xavier Schluttenhofer's sister Anna who married Martin Schratzenstaller.

Does anyone know what happened to the web site www.schluttenhofer.com??
John Kilpatrick, Sr. & Janet (Jennet) Wiley Kilpatrick are buried in the Woodland Cemetery, located about two miles south of Woodland. There are about 30 Kilpatricks buried in the cemetery. David Kilpatrick, one of their sons was a doctor in Woodland and owned a pharmacy there. I took a picture of his house which is still standing in Woodland. Also there was a Kilpatrick school which burnt down in January 1922. It was located across from Kilpatrick Lake. I found a photo of the school in The History of Woodland, Michigan 1837-1987.
A search of census records in Ancestry.com shows a Sherman Goodrich at Alanson, Michigan in 1900,1910,1930. Most records show his birth year as about 1895 in Michigan. He was an only child so he may have been adopted. He was in prison in 1920 but was back with his mother in 1930. His parents were Barzella and Jennie Goodrich. He was always single.

Thank you for your reply.
In my original post, I did incorrectly list Willard as the son of Frank. Further research revealed the error, so I have amended my records.
Blanche Avis was married to Joseph Franklin Niswander, my husband's grandparents. Her parents were Charles B. Page and Sarah A. "Eva" Doddington.
Blanche, Chester and Frank had two other siblings: Robert S., b. 14 Jan 1882 d. 23 Aug 1882 Spring LakeTwp., Ottawa Co., MI, and Osta N. born 31 Jan 1888 in Muskegon d. 13 oct 1892 Muskegon Co., MI. She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in the City of Muskegon. (Incidentally, the county records list Osta's parents as Avice and Charles...Sarah Avice/Avis Doddington Page.) Blanche and Joseph named two of their daughters Osta and Naomi....I'm guessing that Osta's middle name was Naomi.
I do have more information if you are interested. You can email me directly at ellynis2001@yahoo.com.

Does anyone know what Funeral Homes were in existance in Harbor Springs in 1891?
My gggrandfather, Orson BRADLEY, is buried in the Lakeview Cem.H.S. He died June 1891. I have not been able to find the county where he died, so am hoping to find records from the Funeral Home.
The cemetery records don't show his parents. Really need help here.
Thanks so much.
Sandy

Hi,
Orson's parents are Joseph and Mary (Emmons)Bradley. The problem is, I don't actually have proof of this. On Joseph's will, he does list Orson as an heir, it doesn't say "my son". I do have his brother's obits, they don't give Orson's name either. Orson's obit. does not name parents.
No death record for Orson to be found. In other words, no positive proof to convince DAR that Orson is the son of Joseph and Mary!
World tree can be mistaken, so not able to use this as tangible proof.
Can you help more??
Thanks for replying,
Sandy

I am seeking a source to find an obituary for Joseph G. Bain.

Joseph G. Bain died 21-Jun-1925 in Emmet County, Michigan and had lived in Petoskey. He was survived by his second wife, Olive M. Wixon. His first wife was Louisa M. Church (Bain) and she died 27-Apr-1909. He was born in Canada around 1838 to parents who were born in Scotland and Ireland/England. He had previous lived in Ionia County, MI before moving to Emmet in the 1880's or 1890's. Before his second marriage he had been living with his adult daughter, Anna Bain Thomas, SIL Newton Enoch Thomas, and grandson, Benjamin F. Thomas.

I am seeking more information about him to trace his family in Canada.

Does anyone know where obituaries from 1925 can be found for Emmet County Michigan?

Thanks,
Michelle

Here is more of the Obit. Incidently Emmet Co is not in the 1894 State census. "Joseph Bain died. He had been ill for the last two weeks. Mr Bain was so ill that he was not informed of the death of his son Benj. Bain last Saturday. Mr Bain was born near Toronto and moved to Ionia County. He moved to Petoskey with his family in 1882. He was a member of the Adventist church and was one of the oldest Masons in Mich. He affiliated with the Masons in 1860. Surviving him is the wife, one son J.G. Bain, one daughter, Mrs Newton Thomas, a sister, and one brother William Weir of Detroit." [Is Weir a middle name or is there another name to be considered in the family?]
