Roy F. HUSTON, 98, of East Jordan, died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth. The Rev. Celia M. Hastings will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City.

Roy was born Sept. 3, 1899, in Ypsilanti, the son of Leon and Emma (FOSTER) HUSTON.

In 1918, he was turned down for military service because of a "bad heart."

On Sept. 27, 1921, he married Goldie Evans SIMMERMAN in Detroit, and they made their home in Deftroit. He worked at a grain elevator and as a streetcar conductor before becoming an insurance salesman for the Prudential Insurance Co., for 36 1/2 years. They moved to Boyne City in 1969 and to East Jordan in 1 973. Mrs. HUSTON died in 1982.

Survivors include a stepson, Wesley (Agnes) SIMMERMAN, of Charlevoix; a granddaughter, Susan (Julius) KOENIGSKNECHT, of Niles, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Thursday, April 30, at the Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth.
