GEORGE F. LASHMIT, 72
Funeral services for George F. LASHMIT, 72, of
Petoskey, were held today (Monday) at the Christian Life Center, Rev. Jack
Paget and Rev. Paul
Lashmet officiated and burial was in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. LASHMIT died July 9 at Little
Traverse Division of Northern
Michigan Hospitals.
He was born Jan. 11, 1910 in Winston-Salem, N.C. He moved to
Petoskey as a child and attended
Petoskey area schools. Mr. LASHMIT worked on several farms in the area and later was employed at
Michigan Maple Block and the Tannery in East
Bay View. He also worked at
Penn Dixie for 27 years, retiring in 1972.
On June 7, 1980 he married the former Donna
BARE in
Petoskey.
Mr. LASHMIT was a member of the Christian Life Center.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, John of Charlevoix,
Abe and Elmer, both of
Petoskey and Carl of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; three step-children; two brothers,
Ellis of Cedarburg,
Ohio and Paul of Mishawaka, Ind.
The family suggests anyone wishing to honor the memory of Mr. LASHMIT, may do so by contributing in his name to the Leukemia Foundation or the Gideon's International.
Arrangements were handled by the Stone Funeral Home.
