I am also looking for the connection between the Blackbird-Assiginack line. I have the added complication of the name changing form Assiginack to Ossiginack to Ossiginac. Also have one family changing it from Ossiginac to O'Signac.
I need help finding the link from William J. Ossiginac, b. 30 April 1885 in Grand Harbor Michigan, and his father Louis b. 12 June 1847 in Cross Village Michigan, to the rest of the clan.

I just ran across this site. My grandfather was William j. Ossiginac, My father was Joseph v.
The reason the name was changed to O'signac was for professional reasons. Joseph was a boxer (golden gloves) and people just couldn't get how to pronounce our name. My cousin in California also spells it that way for the same reason. hope that helps.
