So far I've been unsuccessful finding a death certificate for Michael J. SULLIVAN, who was born in Chicago in 1858 and also died there, but was buried in Sac Bay Cemetery on 10 October 1927. Wondering what resources might be available from funeral homes in the area from that era. Would the process have been similar to today, where a funeral home would have been responsible for receiving the body from an undertaker in Chicago? Illinois Death Index lists his death date as 7 October 1927, and I know from an obituary in the Escanaba Daily Press on Thursday, 13 October 1927 that he was buried on Tuesday, 10 October.
Would there be any good written records for this cemetery that can be tapped, or am I stuck with the index and headstone details?
Sullivan was also listed as a teacher in the Garden District for several years. Although it's probably a long shot, does anyone know of any records that might be available related to that?
Michael was married to Melissa OLMSTED.
Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.
