They moved with the U.S.W. of A. no. 9 which was the shingle workers union. Anyways here is John's obit.

A COLD BLOODED MURDER
J. H. La Bross Shot Down at Bryant by a Would-be Hold-up
J. H. La Bross, the Bryant saloon keeper, was shot and instantly killed by an unknown person Thursday evening at 9:40 p. m., the murderer escaping unseen and being still at large. Mr. La Bross was in the saloon alone at the time, making up the cash for the day and had $4 or $5 in change on the bar. Carl Berge and Frank La Cross, had retired in an adjoining room. The door was heard to rattle, there was a rush and La Bross yelled for help. Then quickly following was the report of a gun and La Bross fell, giving two or three death cries and expired.
Berge and La Cross rushed out as soon as the shot was fired, but the murderer had already escaped, evidently being frightened away by the knowledge that they were in the room and the loud barking of a dog. The went to the door but saw no one.
