Ancestors of Edna McKay

One of my great-grandmothers was named Edna McKay and I am looking for information about her parents, siblings, etc. She was born in 1894 and died in 1932; she was married to Daniel Parish- she and Daniel are both on Mission Hill Cemetary, Chippewa County, MI (she as Edna Parish, of course).

I don't think so- my great-grandfather Daniel Parish (1872-1958) was always Dan and not Danny. His father was Dan Parish, but I have no record of when or where he was born (but his wfe was Catherine Teeple 1852-1925?). There was also a son of Dan Parish & Edna McKay named Daniel (my grandmother's brother) but he went by DJ (Daniel James, I think).

I think I have the information you are looking for.

I believe Edna McKay was my grandmother Elizabeth's (1884-1961) younger sister. They had an older sister Susan.

Their parents were David McKay 1858-1920 and Elizabeth McCauley 1858-1900. I have a photo.

David McKay was the son of Duncan McKay 1824-1900 and Margaret Elizabeth MCullough 1821 - 1907. Both were born in Scotland and are also buried in Mission Hill Cemetary, Brimley Michigan.

A family tree prepared in 1984 shows the marriage of Kathleen Sweeny to Warren Kellog. Kathleen was daughter of Margaret Orma Parish and Bernard James Sweeny.

Are Sandra and Craig your siblings?

Please contact me for more information.

Bill,
Thank you very much for the information. Sandra, myself and Craig are indeed the children of Warren and Kathleen (Sweeney) Kellogg. Any chance you have an electronic file with the photo of David and Elizabeth? Would enjoy getting a look at them.
Thanks Again.

I am looking for info on Eugene Owen McSweeney. Jerimiah & Nellie (Ring) McSweeney gave birth to Eugene Owen McSweeney who married Mary Green about 1860 in Ireland. They had 9 children, but only 2 lived long enough to immigrate to the states. They settled in Michigan's upper peninsula. John married Elizabeth Lynch about 1884 in Sault Ste Mariee who had Helena, Eugene (my great grandfather), William and Mary Ann Sweeney. James, Eugene's other son married Elizabeth Fischer who had John, Flourance, Mary and Gracie (Donnelly) Sweeney. Eugene (John's son) married Ada Gray who had Richard, Ethel, Edith and Aaron (my grandfather) Sweeney. Aaron married Eleanor who had several children including Eugene (my father).

If you have any info on this family please contact me.

I have a William Mckay born about 1801 in Dornoch Scotland and married to a Jane Gray about 9 years his younger. They came to the US in 1855 on the ship the Andrew Foster. Their children were Margaret born August 21, 1828, marriage of William and Jane was Feb. 1829, yes after Margaret was born. then Robert was born in Dornoch Sept. 23, 1830, then Barbara was born in Dornoch Sutherland scotland Jan 30, 1831. Then Lilias was born August 7, 1832, then Alexandria female ws born April 27, 1834, then Andrew Cooper Mckay(my great, great grandfather) was born Feb 16, 1836. He later married Mary Jane Walt. then John Mckay was born in Dornoch Jan 5 1838, Sarah Mckay ws born also Jan 5, 1838, twins. Margaret Mckay was then born July 11, 1839. Georgina Fraser Mckay was born September 12, 1842.
On the ships list, it list a few more kids than the above from a Scotland census. They are in 1855 listed as William age 11, James age 7, Mary age 6, Hector age 3. There could have been more after they came to the US but I don't know.
They landed in New York and I have found my ancestors in Sault Ste Mariee Ontario as well as Sault Ste Mariee Michigan. Andrew later went to Washington state with a few of his children after his wife died. He is buried in Tenino, Washington. Hector married a Phoebe Hoover in Sault Ste Mariee Michigan in 1880.
Some are found in Lambton County Onatario, down across Detroit, Mi area. If you have any of these people, let me know,,,Mary Kowatch of Wausau, Wi. nbamj@verizon.net
