I have a Peter CHANDENAIS born 14 Mar 1879 in Quebec, Canada. Peter was married to Delia Marie OJIBWAY on 12 Oct 1910 in Sault Ste Mariee, Chippewa County, Michigan. His father was Paul Napolean CHANDENAIS born about 1844 somewhere in Canada. Paul Napoleans's parents were Peter/Pierre CHANDENAIS born 6 Aug 1818 in St. Pierre, Les Becquets, Canada and he married Amelia Boucher DEROSIER.

I have an Eli LESSARD married to Merence St. Louis. They had a son named Eli who married Josephine KING/MAROIS in September 1855 in St. Mary's Church, Sault Ste Mariee, Chippewa County, Michigan.

Hi Denise
I have a "Philman CHANDNOIS" on a Social Security application filled out by my grandmother, Lucille LESSARD b.11 Nov 1907. She listed her father as Jerry LESSARD. My father confirmed this. From what I've found researching CHANDNOIS the Soo area, I think the more common spelling is CHANDANAIS or CHANDENAIS.

I've seen Peter CHANDANAIS b.14 Mar 1879 in the Mi. Soc. Sec. Death Index, and suspect he may have been Philman/Philomene's brother, uncle to Lucille LESSARD, but have no proof.

I recently received info on the LESSARD line via the 'net, and it has Elie LESSARD b.1860 m Josephine KING-MAROIS. Elie's parents are listed as Elie LESSARD d.21 May 1893 in CAN and Marie Emerence STLOUISS, dau of Joe ST. LOUIS and Maggie.

Another son of Elie and Emerence was Jerry LESSARD b.1871. This is probably the same Jerry who is the father of my Lucille LESSARD (who m Fred PITTMAN in the Soo), except the name of this has Jerry's wife is listed as Philomene SHADRENEAN b.02 Mar 1897....if this is Lucille's mom, the birthdate for Philomene must be wrong, unless she bore a child at age ten! (Lucille was b.1907).

So, I have some unverified and some circumstantial evidence going back past the info mentioned in paragraph #1, but all I really know for sure is the parents listed on my grandmother Lucille's Soc. Sec. app., and her siblings.

If you have further info, I'd love to see it. I am happy to share what I have so far.

Hi Denise

Thank you for checking into Philomine Chandenaise for me. I have seen the name spelled SHADNAW. She re-married a Pete DeMARS and moved to Wisconsin, where she died. I'll have to get her Social Security application which will at least list her parents. Too bad they tripled in price! Again, thanks!
