I am looking for anyone who may have known my mother Annabelle Helene Rose/Mallette/Welsh in the 1950's or 60's. In the 1940 census she is 4 yrs old, father was Sheridan Samual Rose of Cheboygan Mi. My mother had a brother named Sheridan Rose Jr,he was 3 in 1940. Annabelle married Richard Elliott Welsh in 1953 in the U.P and lived on Bailey St in Cheboygan Mi in the 50's and 60's. My mother told me her last name was Mallette when she was younger.Please help with this empty spot in my life. Anything about my father would be appreciated also,alls I know on him was that he was a disc jockey at a radio station in Cheboygan Mi in the 50's and 60's.

I'm stummped. Where do I look next? She had been taken away from family at some point. Madonna MacDonald 1934. Daughter of Sheridan Rose and Lillian or Marion Mallett. sibblings are john or Sheridan and Annabelle or Shirleen. all from cheboygan, MI. Any help and/ or suggestions are welcome and appriciated. Looking for any assistance in obituary lookup or information on Gerald and Lucille "DeGraw" Macklem, both are buried in Pine Hill cemetery. Lucille died March 5, 1977 and Gerald died 1967. They had a daughter named Barbara Macklem who died June 2nd, 1982. Would like to know if she is buried in same cemetery, and any other information that would be possible.

I'm trying to locate the family bible or any other historic information of John Hoglund, Born 1883, in Sweden and died 1919 in Cheboygan. In 1988 I talked with Marvel Hoglund who showed me the family Bible and a deed from John Hoglund to Marvel's father, August Hoglund, Born 1876 in Sweden. My great grandfather (John Hoglund, who changed his last name to Nordman) and August Hoglund were siblings. I saw that Marvel passed away in 2003. I am hoping she gave the Bible to another family member. I would love to see it and anything else the family may have - photos, other documents, etc.

Thanks for replying.

I talked by phone to the Forest Township Clerk and all she could tell me was that 3 graves in the Hebner plot are marked "Occupied" in addition to daughter Lillian Spaven and her husband Franklin and another daughter Ethel Maud Hebner. Wife Lucy is one of the "occupied" graves according to her death record.

Cheboygan County Deaths are on-line until 1933 but the Clerk's Office checked up until 1940 (William is not in the 1940 census.) Lillian was living in Montmorency Co. in 1940 and son Frank was living in Iosco Co. These were the only two children living at that time. [Frank is buried in Oscoda.] I have also checked surrounding counties.

Now you've got me thinking - Cheboygan Co. must have burial permits. Do you know where they would be located?

RE: the "other occupied graves"
There must be a record somewhere at the cem. for those graves. NOBODY gets burried without a written record.

The last name may be mispelled!

If William died in another county other than Cheboygan or Presque Isle Co., then that's where his death cert will be recorded. He may have been visiting a son or dau. when he died. Chances are he died after Lucy.

Hebner Family of Onaway

I realize Onaway is technically in Presque Isle County but right on the border with Cheboygan Co. I am looking for a family that lived in Forest Township, Cheboygan Co., but gave their address as Onaway.

I'm looking for William James Hebner. He's in Forest Township 1910 - 1930. William was born in Sanilac Co., Mich. in 1851. He married Lucy Greenlaw 25 Jul 1875 Elk Township, Sanilac Co. Lucy died in Onaway 09 Sept. 1931 and is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Apparently William is buried there as well. I talked to the Forest Township Clerk and there are three other "occupied" graves there but no names or dates or apparently stones. Two other daughters are buried in Forest Lawn: Ethel Maud Hebner who died 16 Apr 1906 in Onaway and Lillian (Spaven) who died 12 Mar 1977 also in Onaway.

I have searched the Onaway Deaths on-line and William isn't there. I have contacted Presque Isle Co. and Cheboygan Co. and not there either. He is not in the 1940 census. Does anyone recognize this Hebner family and might know when and where William died? There was also a son Frank who died in 1974 in Redford, Wayne Co., although his main residence was Oscoda. Any hint might help me narrow down William's date and place of death.

Wrathels. I received some of this info from Lois Campbell

Hi John: Yes I have a lot of Fagin data. I decend from Martha Fagin brother to Robert(Annie). Martha married James Gordon. Martha & James are my great-grandparents. Do you have any data or pictures on the Fagin's so we can share. I haven't done a whole lot of research because I hit a roadblock regarding on Thomas & Jane Fagin who were Robert & Martha's parents. I was able to find information on all of Thomas's children but have a problem with William whom I believe was married twice. First marriage I cannot find, however I did find his second marriage. After I did my Research I came to the conclusion
he came from NYS like many of the Families who went to Ontario.
I don't know what part of New York State but there were a lot of Jewell Families there in early years as my Family
married into one way back.

I would be interested in the Jewell family. There was a Jewell family in Negaunee, Marquette, Michigan, USA. The lived on Clark Street. The daughter married Jay Ellis and they live in Boynton Beach Florida. This particular Jewell family is related to the Rice Family. My father was Lowell G Rice and is the son of Beatrice May Mitchell.

I'm the great grandaughter of Levi Wakeford (April 10, 1858 - July 11, 1923) and Jenny Passino (July 2, 1868 - March 18, 1911)from the Afton/Ellis/Wolverine area. Theirs was a very large family that separated at a young age after Jenny died. I believe Levi was the son of George C Wakeford. I'm trying to confirm if/how this line would be related to other Wakefords also found buried in the Silver Lake Cemetery (i.e. Randolph, Phoebe, Philo, John or Joshua Philo). I work on all of the Fugère lines from Canada. My own, Pierre Fougere/Fugere, the Edme/Aime Fugere dit Champagne line (Fugere, Fisher) as well as the Fugere/Fougere line in NS/NB. There are also some other lines that are very small (the Michel Fugere line) and lines that die out (Louis Aunis dit Fugere). I have the majority of the Canadian information on these families (I won't say "all" because I frequently find something I've missed before, and because I've done more on my line then I have on Edme's line and the Fougere line). It's when the families hop the border and move into the states that I frequently lose them. I've been systematically going through each generation, but mostly on my own line; I work on Edme's line when I can, or when I run across something that warrants. Funnily enough, though Pierre and Edme are unrelated, descendants from both married one another, so there is a line of Edme's that I'm related to, which includes the Fugere-Fisher line, hence my particular interest in this family.

Still working on these issues:
1) What happened to Narcisse and Elmire Fugere (who apparently never used Fisher) and children Mary and Joseph, who were last found in Cheboygan in 1870 (Mary in 1860)?
2) Did any of Denis and Frederica/Caroline's children marry?
Did Denis marry Mary St Germain after Frederica died?
