My husband is a great great grandson of William Jewell (1812-1899), who died in Cheboygan. He is decended from one of William's sons (Hector, 1855-1928) who remained in Ontario (North Gwillimbury Township, York County). We're always interested in connecting with distant relatives, as several of William's sons moved to Cheboygan with him in 1880, after the death of his wife Hestor Sedore (1816-1875).

Still a mystery is where in Upper Canada William was born.

I'm still looking for William Jewell born in 1812 also. I did find a William Jewell who was part of a Loyalist group that went to Ontario in the early 1790's. I forgot to record it. I think it was 1792 or 1793. I dn't know if there is any relationship or not. It may be worth checking out.

We have found Loyalist Jewells who arrived in Nova Scotia after the war, and then moved on to Ontario. We're pretty certain that they're the Jewells who settled in Norfolk County, and we've tracked that family into the early 1800's; none of them moved either to the Lennox/Addington or North Gwillimbury areas.

I am Thomas Neil Jewell Jr.(42 years old) My grandfather(born about 1905) was Neil Thomas Jewell from Cheboygan, MI. I visited Cheboygan in the early 90's and was very interested in the family history which I know nothing about. Have second cousin there by the name of Dale (Dell) Jewell. My grandfather Married Ida Mae Swank and moved to Loincoln Park,MI. Just wondering what you may know... Thank you and lok forward to your response.

Neil Thomas Jewell (and his 8 siblings) were children of Thomas Herbert Jewell. Thomas Herbert (and his 8 siblings) were the chldren of Nelson Jewell and Mary Ann Coverdale. Nelson Jewell (and his 11 siblings) were children of William Jewell and Hester Sedore.

William (born in Canada in 1811) moved to the Cheboygan area in in the late 1870's with 9 of his adult children and numerous grandchildren from a township in southern Ontario named, at the time as North Gwillimbury.

There are a whole lot of folks in Northern Michigan who are you cousins (and some in Canada as well)

Has anyone seen if any of the Jewells connect to Thomas Jewell? There's a book found on google books called the Jewell Register. I have it downloaded in a PDF.

I am also connected to the Jewells in Cheboygan and tried to photograph many of the headstones. The Jewells lived in Cheboygan and Aloha.
