Munroe Family - Cheyboygan

Greetings,
I am researching the family of Oran Munroe, born in the States, moved to Ontario, specifically Peterborough County, early 1800's. He and his wife Catherine Emmeline Hubble had a son Oran Jr., born in Ontario, died US. On 1880 US Census is in Munro, MI. Oran and his wife Mary had 3 children that I know of...two sons, Guy and Terry, and a daughter. Oran Jr. also had a brother Perse C. who lived at least for a time in Michigan. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: MUNRO, ROBERTSON
The Munros were neighbors of my Myers family in Munro Township. I grew up in the same neighborhood and often wondered after I started researching if they were who the lake and township were named for. Anyway...the old Cheboygan newspapers had township gossip columns, some of which I can pass along. This is by no means a complete list of what might be available...just what happens to be on the pages I've copied for myself.

Fri., July 21, 1911 (I don't know which paper)
Mrs. P.C. Munro spent Sunday with Mrs. James Robertson.

Cheboygan Democrat, Fri., Aug. 18, 1911
Orin Munro arrived last Friday from California, where he has been with his son Guy, he intends to go back after a visit here.

Cheboygan Democrat, Sept 15, 1911
Mrs. P.C. Munro visited at Jas. Robertson's Sunday.

Cheboygan Democrat, March 9, 1912
Mrs. P.C. Munroe called on Mrs. James Roberston's Sunday.

Note the different spellings...I copied them as they appeared.
Hope it helps! :)

Hello...we must be some kind of cousin. Allan Munro was my great great grandfather. There are some errors in the information you provided. Oran first married Catherine Hubble. she died in 1845 in Jefferson Co., New York. He then married Mahala (surname unknown). He did not die in 1863 but sometime after 1881 when he appears on the Canadian Census. Catherine and Oran had 6 children:
Perse married Polly Hubble
Allan married Elizabeth Wood Post
Samuel married 4 times, Sarah Ann Hubble, Mary Ann Wescott, Elizabeth Harnden and Matilda Clarke
Oran Milton married Mary Elizabeth Lemmon
Huldah (not Hannah) first married Amiah Hubble and in 1881 married his brother Andrew
Lovica married John Dorie

The geographic area is Oak Lake, Methuen Twp., Peterborough Co., Ontario not Oakdale. Methuen Twp merged with Belmont twp at some point.

I'm curious...which one of the above is your ancestor? I'd love to hear more about your branch.
