I see a list of ghost towns but do not see anything on Peterville, does anyone know about Peterville? My grandmother was born there in Oct 1904 and there was a train station. Thanks Shelley (keli1@aol.com)

Peterville was a small lumber camp located in Section 10, Platte township. It was located in a large valley along the present Fowler Road. A few years ago there was a concrete water tank their. The railroad passed by this tank and may have used it for water as well as the horses that skidded the logs. I have been researching ghost towns in Benzie county, from among other things old newspapers. Found only one referance to Peterville in the Benzie Banner. The article mentioned Samuel Olson, a man that was killed by a falling limb. The article was dated 11 May 1899.

Harold, my grandmother Irene Davis was born in Peterville and I think her father had a boarding house there, yes they said the train ran through there. Peterville is on her birth certificate, she was born 12 Oct 1904.
