seeking info on Laing family of Mancelona, Antrim Co., MI

Hello

I am seeking information on Auline E. Laing was born abt. 1913 in Sanilac Co., Michigan. Her parents were:
George Edward Laing born 17 Apr 1888 in Argyle Twp., Sanilac Co., MI and
Rosetta Farnsworth born 21 Sep 1887 in MI. They were married 13 May 1907 in Sandusky, Sanilac Co., MI. They both died in Mancelona, Antrim Co., MI.

I’ve found Auline's parents in the 1910 Census living in Marion, Sanilac Co., MI. I also have her father's WW I draft registration card dated 5 Jun 1917 which records that he was still living in Marion, Sanilac Co., MI with his wife and one child. He was then a self employed merchant working in Deckerville, Sanilac Co., MI. I found Auline and her family again on the 1920 Census living in Lansing Ward 2, Ingham Co., MI and also on the 1930 Census living in Onaway, Presque Isle, MI, however, this time Auline is spelled Arline (probably a misspelling).

I’d like to become connected to anyone researching Auline E. Laing. I wish to verify the correct spelling of her name. I am also hoping to find out if she was married and if so to whom, where and when as well as if she had any children, their names and birthdates. Lastly, I hope to learn the date and place of Auline's death and the burial details for her parents.

If you have all or some of the details I am seeking, wont you please respond to this posting?

Kind Regards
Patti Molenaar
The Netherlands
I am helping a friend search for his McAllister family that came to America from Ballycastle. His ancestors were James McAllister and wife Sara Kyle McAllister. They were born about 1822. It seems that James died and then Sara immigrated to America where her children had already gone. She came to America in 1882. She either remarried a Mr. Clark before immigrating or after settling in Buffalo, NY. Sarah and James McAllister had three children: John, James and Mary. Sarah's maiden name is Kyle.
Thanks so much for digging up that information. It was very helpful. Doing a little more research into the situation, I discovered that the man who murdered his family was Orland Martin's grand son Orland McMillan, born about 1915 in Michigan. He was the son of Lottie Martin and Donald Archie McMillan. I still have not been able to come up with any details on this situation but I am very interested in anything that anyone can find. From what I remember being told, he killed several of his children but one survived and his wife escaped out the bathroom window. I don't in know what town this took place, but I am sure it was in Michigan. The funny thing about the whole matter is that these families (Martin & McMillan) married again, years later, and produced me! After they removed a few times, of course.
Thanks for your time,
Angie

I live in one of the houses in Eastport that is considered a McPherson house. It burned last fall but the handhewn boards and square nails in the old part of the house still stand. My aunt has given me photos of John McPherson and Guy and I will make a photo wall to the family this fall. I am related to the Pearl family, (Norton Pearl, is my grandfather and Adda Harris is my great great grandmother) which is also related by marriage to the McPherson's through the Alice(Pearl) Hadcock. Guy was my Aunt Myrtle Pearl Sherwood's cousin and I remember him, Guy, when I was a young girl and can easily picture his face.
A George O. Glazier shows up in the 1894 Michigan State Census as a Civil War veteran living in Banks Township. He was also included in a photo of members of George Martin Post 227, Eastport (a G.A.R. post) c. 1900. (I'm tracking members of that post rather than researching particular families, so that's all I have on him.)

Hi Sue!
My name is Teresa and I'm the original poster of the thread you've been replying to on Ancestry (jaggededge_1). I looked through a bit of my info and I don't believe we've talked before. Harvey Briggs Scott is my Great Great Grandfather. I have a picture of a Pete Kile too, in what looks to be like a military uniform. I also have pics of Medora (as a child and an adult). Do you know what happened to her mother? I'm a little confused on that. In the 1860 Census Harvey is married to a Lydea Medora is 6mo old and Rhoda Terry is living with them as a servant. They are living next door to Nathanial (46)and Hannah Terry (36) and their 5 children. I can't find Harvey anywhere in the 1850 census, but I'm guessing they were in Canada at that time due to the fact that all of the Terry's are from Canada. I actually can only find one of the Scott kids in the 1850 Census, Amasa T Scott and he is in Canada. Anyway... I'm getting off topic lol. Harvey and Adeline's son Thomas Washington is my Great Grandfather.
Do you live in or near Antrim County? We've made a few trips up there. We went to one of the original Scott farms, Bruce and Pauline Scott's. Pauline is absolutely awesome! She let us in and gave us the grand tour and showed us lots of pictures. It touched my father so much he cried! We took one of his brothers up a few years later and he was the same way!
I see you are stuck on John Scott Sr. I have been stuck on John Jr. for about 3 years!! I have him b. Nov 1806 in either New Hampshire or New York and d. May 5, 1847 in St. Clair Shores MI. I also have all of the Frost info from a book I bought that goes wayyyyy back! Do you have their marriage date? Or his cause of death? An obituary? Anything??? lol. If you give me what you have on Sr. I might be able to help too, on Ancestry. I'm going to cc this to the thread incase Michele needs any of this info. Will be happy to share any info or pictures that I have, just let me know :-)

Teresa

Hi, I am a descendant of Hiram Jackson Scott (1832-1898)
I go through his son, Thomas Ellsworth (1862-1953), Hiram Ely (1896-1954), Ray Ernest (1928-2001), my family is descended from Ray Ernest.

I am still stuck on John Scott, Jr. (1806-1847)

Where did you find information for John Scott, Sr., his wife and family. I have recently been using google books and there is a lot of great information on the Frost side on there. I would appreciate any information on the ancestors of Hiram Jackson Scott, I have very little information on the Scott side.

Thanks a lot, you can email me at scottga1@msu.edu, or respond to this thread.

Teresa,
I am not a member of ancestry.com so I only get on it occasionally at the genealogy library. Ilike facts to back my information. Harvey Briggs Scott was my third great grandfather. Any yes I know a lot about hte direct line: Jack-Gleason-Charles Amasa-Harvey Briggs-John Jr.-John Sr.(1777 NY).
I do not have any pictures of Medora as an adult or child-would love to see them.
The census you are referring to re: Harvey 1860: St Clair: ELizabeth has died she was Madora's mother.
Harvey has his sistr Lydia living with him, his sister -in-law living with him Rhoda Terry (18yrs) and his baby daughter Madora age 6 months.
I know Thomas's daughter Martha. is she your mom or aunt?
Pauline lives in my grandpa's old farm. pauline is my aunt. bruce was my dad's younger brother. bruce was number 4 of the 10, my dad is number 2 of the 10.
I have two other emails you can contact me at:
suefeather@aol.com and
snotball888@yahoo.com
I live in the state of Wyoming. Born and lived in Central Lake till age 9 years then moved to Gaylord, MI.
I'm a nurse. I will be home first week in August-maybe we could meet.
If you have scanning capabilities would you scan me the pictures of Madora. I have some of harvey with all of his kids (He had a total of 11 but only 10 lived).
One of John Sr. kids had 14 children. I think there are plenty Scotts around!
Love your cousin Sue

That's my Uncle Wick, him and his daughter are trying to help me but I probably have more information than they are going to find. I have been stuck on the 5th generation back: John Scott Sr. in 1777. Otherwise I have quite a bit of information on the rest of them. I did my direct line and now i am just collecting information on the siblings, andthe grandmothers. Which believe it or not the more current ones are the problems! I can't find a death date on my great grandma Mary Ellen (CLARK) Scott. I know it was in the 1940s. Sue

Seeking information on Timothy C. Carmichael, born in Pittsylvania Co., VA in 1871. He married Martha Owens c1892 in VA, moved to Cincinnati, OH where he is on the 1910 and 1920 Census w/Martha and children. The 1930 Census shows Martha as a widow, but this could be only an indication that he had left her. Is he the same Timothy C. Carmichael who married Hulda Montgomery Estep in Pike Co., KY and then moved to Mancelona, Antrim Co., MI where he appears on the 1930 Census? He appeared on the 1920 Census in both Cincinnati,OH and Pike Co., KY. One census indicates that he and Hulda married c1920. When did he die after 1930 and is there an obit or cemetery which would give information as to his parents, etc.? Anything on Timothy would be greatly appreciated. joeelliott851@comcast.net
