Our beloved friend, author and historian for Alpena county and city has passed on. He died yesterday in Alpena, leaving the readers without a new book to read. His 10 books, commemorating the history of his home town, will live on forever, leaving us only wanting more. He has served his community well, having worked with his father to collect one of the most impressive set of artifacts in the Michigan area. His collection is on permanent display at the Besser Museum in Alpena. He also worked at the museum for years. After his retirement, he began to look at his extensive collection of pictures relating to Alpena, and decided to write about all that he had. He never ran out of new ideas, or new books. He will be sorely missed by all his readers and his many many friends. The light has gone out.
