Thank You for your response. Mabel Hite is really not related to Gertrude (Conrad) Leiphart but thru a second marriage. Mary (Viola?) Sweet married a 2nd time to my gggrandfather Jacob Conrad bringing with her 3 children from a previous marriage. There names were Elsie, Frankie & Georgie Sweet so Elsie is my ggrandmothers step sister & Mabels mother.. The only other information on Elsie is I believe she is buried in Munising MI on the Leiphart plot in Maple Grove Cemetery. There is a grave stone for Elsie Hite. On Gertrude's death certificate her mother's name is Mary A Russell (maiden name?).

I do remember as a child going to a funeral in Michigan but not being allowed to participate. We were staying in a hotel room with my Uncle watching over us. There seemed to be some tension in the family. I have asked my mother and she believed that was the funeral for Elsie. The tension seemed to be around a painting, maybe of Mabel, as to who it would get it and I don't know who finally layed claim to it.

My grandfather, Conrad Leiphart, went to visit the Hites and was a bat boy for the giants while visiting because of Mabel & Mike Donlin as the story goes.

Oh, one more thing. Do you know where or how I could get my hand on any film of Mabel Hite or Mike Donlin film. I would love to see one.
