Here is our latest information on the James and Freedom Burdick families of early Oxford County Ontario. Both were United Empire Loyalists from Lanesborough Massachusetts
Their descendants lived in Oxford, Norfolk, Elgin, Huron and Brant Counties Ontario
Also on the same website are the families of Abel Thornton and brother Calvin Thornton who came to Oxford County before 1805. Their descendants lived in Oxford County and Sanilac, Iosco and Alcona Counties Michigan. Surnames in the Burdick files include Thornton. Lawrence, Sage, Teeple, Piper, Clark, Nichols. Lewis, Hubbard and Smith
Surnames in the Thornton files include Thorrington, Williams, Perry, Showers, Crague, Sweet,
Strong, Dixon, Dolson, Ennest, Sprague, Taylor, Kerns, Aldrich, Van Atter, Sicles, and Larson
